an old showerroom before and after...................
We are living in an old house, build in 1898. When we bought the house, it was in a very bad condition. Now we have repeatedly refurbished piece by piece. The last project has been a small room with toilet and shower, on the second floor. The vanity was in an orange plastic, the walls and the floor were covered with different green, but also gray and blue tiles, probably all leftovers. everything in 70’s style.
The shower was not anymore tight, so all the water flowed through the floor into the first floor and severely damaged the support beams. We had to replace the timbering. We didn’t extend the room, - with one exception: we have removed a false ceiling, which was used in the 70’s. We now have made an old and original room again, from 1898, with 320 cm high walls. During the renovation, we made sure that the style also fits the old house. I oriented me myself to an old bathhouse, which was build also around 1890 – 1910, with arabic touch.. At this time it was chic to put arabic tiles and painted pictures on the walls.
We have replaced evrything in this room, the heating, the floor, the tiles, sanitary Facilities and also electrical installations, the furnitures, the vanity, the toilet...and so on......
At any time of the day, the light reflections and colors of the new showerroom are changing(change)the light, it is for me every time like as I would be the first time in this room, it fascinates me...... The light reflections are great...

We're in the same boat with a tiny one, 5 1/2 x 6 but our window is in the middle of the wall, above the tub. 2009 is going to be our bathroom remodel year and I've already planted the seed in DH's head about moving the window to the corner of the room so that we can have a stand up shower. Comments (26)The paint color on the lower half of the wall is just a very light lavender. The upper half is more purple. I actually mixed the lavender myself, by adding a little of the purple paint to some white paint. The fake tile (sheet vinyl) floor came from Linoleum City in Los Angeles. I looked and looked and looked for that vinyl and Linoleum City is the only place that sells it. I called a salesman there and asked about it. He said they had a unique contract with Tarkett (I think) to produce this product and he didn't think it was sold anywhere else in the country. Their number one client is Hollywood. Set-building people buy it by the roll to use on the sets. The sheet vinyl creates the look of early 20 Century hex tile floor in a jiffy. :) The light fixtures and medicine chest are reproductions. The light fixtures came from Rejunvenation Hardware and the medicine chest came from Van Dykes Restoration hardware. All these years of writing about old houses and I finally got to use some of the resources I've been writing about. Thanks for all the nice comments. Comments (96)This is the kitchen that has been in my brain for at least 10 years, and here you have gone and done it perfectly!!! I'm going to Pinterest the bejebbers out of it as inspiration photos for the coming renovations (as soon as I finish all these pesty bathrooms!). Seriously, I have wanted a 4 oven Aga plus a module for ages. I already have the full 601 fridge & freezer (so a little bigger than your Subzero.) And I plan to put a big barrel hood over it all. And you have a big island with not huge aisles! And you have soapstone! I really think we're channeling the same frequencies. I'm totally in love with your butler's pantry! We didn't inherit one, but I may use the cabinet sliding door idea for the walk-thru pantry I'm planning. It solves my problem of a tight space and not really wanting all open shelves!
