Not specific dates as I always sow on a weekend. I start my tomatoes around March 20 and plant out around May 1 here weather permitting. I don't want them to get too big. My extended forecast doesn't show anything below 53F (~12C) after Sunday morning so I should be safe planting Sunday afternoon but my plants aren't hardened off yet. Plus I'm going on a fishing trip this weekend. I'll plant tomatoes out on May 4 and then peppers and eggplants a week later.

Yes, I think a lot of people have an optimum sowing, and transplanting date for their area. Up north, my sow date was March 15th, and transplant date was May 1. Down here in the south, it's now the first week in January, and transplant March 1 or a little earlier if it looks warm. Still honing the dates, only been here 3 springs.

Yep, Sungold is surely a tasty tomato but a terrible splitter I have really sandy, free draining soil and keep watering to a minimum because once you get started on the hose, there is no going back... I seem to have gotten very picky as well because I have got fed up with cherry tomatoes which grow in bunches rather than neat pairs. Always manage to knock too many unripe tomatoes off the vines. I might hold off a day for the transplanting, if weather was grim...but sowing happens on the exact same date whatever.

May 1st. for tomatoes. The days are tempting way before that,and I grow somethings year round,but around May 1st, nights and soil temps are just right. You can plant earlier, but May 1st plantings catch up. But I planted on April 21st this year.

I could transplant now (or I could have days ago), but my plants aren't very mature, yet. I should be able to transplant the most mature of the tomatoes soon. Our last frost date is said to be about May 10th, but if you watch the weather, you can get an idea of which years are earlier/later, and watch out for days that break the pattern (to protect your plants).
