Are whirlpool washers any good
Comments (11)the maytag is working great. After I did a major clean of it, I ran my first load. It uses allot more water but the wash was done in half the time the GE took. For some reason I had a shirt that smelled allot like maple syrup and the smell would never wash out with my old GE, but one wash in the maytag and the smell is completely gone now, what a relief it is to have truly clean clothes again, and not needing to make a weekly trip to the laundry mat even though ive always enjoyed watching the Speed Queens do there thing. Has anyone noticed how hard it is to find non HE detergent anymore. I assume they still make them but they are hard to find at least in my area. I know I can always use HE detergent, just dont really want to if I can avoid it. What are some good non HE detergent that I can keep my eye out for....See MoreWhirlpool Duet 9400 Washer died in 3 years- what to buy next?
Comments (23)Heater will NOT engage in normal no matter what. I often use wrinkle free for clothes, husband's dress shirts, sometimes towels. This will not allow a max spin though. I use extra white for white sheets/towels/socks. Usually with extra warm or hot temp and sometimes extended and/or prewash. I have used custom for kids' clothes warm with a max spin speed. I have used express for bathing suits/towels after a day of swimming. A little Vaska on express and everything is fresh for the next day. These items don't really need to be washed daily so express is great (30 minutes). I have used delicates/hand wash for ... well delicate items. This setting works great. More soaking less tumbling. I have used woolens for wool sweaters also great. I LOVE the comforter setting. It will "vent" the item(s) first - wet them thoroughly before it adds the detergent. Very smart. I almost always use the sensitive setting which uses a higher spin speed between wash and rinse and uses an extra rinse. I don't like too much residual detergent smell (if possible). I've used clean machine. I used table linens a few times for table cloths - not really sure what makes that setting good for them. They turned out just fine. The only program I was not thrilled with was the dress shirts one. It only does a medium spin and left the shirts quite wet. I prefer wrinkle free for them (but that's me). I have used prewash and extended. If items are noticeably dirty I use a prewash. I have used extended if I think they need a little longer tumbling. The more agitation the better the wash. Shorter cycles are not the answer for clean items. Gosh ... have fun and keep us posted on how it's going....See MoreThoughts on Whirlpool WFL98HEBU washer
Comments (40)The WGD98HEBU is discontinued for sure. That's the matching gas dryer. Not available anywhere. The washing machine and electric dryer may or may not be discontinued but they are easy to find. I want the washer and the has dryer so looks like I am SOL. If anyone can confirm that a store has the gas dryer in stock please let me know. Just because it shows in stock online doesn't mean it is, I called three chains that showed it in stock online but they did not have any. Not even floor models. Comments (17)The entire outer cabinet comes off (with the rear panel remaining standing in place). 1) Pull the machine forward from the wall a little so there's room for the console to swing back in Step 3. Unplug the power cord. 2) Remove the two screws at the front lower corners of the control console. 3) Pull the console slightly forward, then swing it upwards and back. It's hinged at the upper rear corners and should stay up ... although sometimes the plastic hinges break so be careful of that. 4) Disconnect the lid switch harness where it plugs into the top under the console. 5) Use a large flat screwdriver to remove the two (usually gold colored) spring clips that anchor the top to the rear panel. 6) Open the lid, grasp at the front of the loading port and swing the cabinet forward and off the base. The cabinet is a bit flimsy/flexible when not anchored to the base. 7) Set the cabinet aside so you can get under it to access the lid switch. Reverse all that to reassemble. Place the lower front edge of the cabinet under the front lip of the base (may need to give a slight kick with your knee) and set it down into place. There are two tabs at the rear corners of the base that fit into slots in the edge of the cabinet to help stabilize the sides. Sometimes it's a bit tricky to get that aligned. Don't forget to connect the lid switch harness plug....See Moreuscpsycho
