Help me pic bedroom nightstands please? Pics
Comments (5)If you want to have two matching stands on each side just get two baby dressers like the third photo. They are 36" like you are looking for. They won't clash with the full size dresser you already have. Oak baby furniture is not as common so you will have to do more Googleing to find them. I would not put a solid black or white painted ones in the space. To harsh with oak. If you want to do a painted piec get one with an oak top to blend it in a bit with the oak you have. I think a deep painted color like the second photo could bring in some pop to the room but NOT with two of them painted the same color. That would be overkill. If you are putting a nightstand in front of the window you should stick with swag valances. Swag valance would look cute on the window by the chair. The comforter looks like it leaves a gap at the bottom and does not hit the siderails. I thought it might be the wrong size. I had to live with a full size comforter on a new queen size bed for a long time until I had the money for a queen size one. I thought maybe you were just using this one until you found the right one for the new bed. One thing to consider when shopping for a queen size comforter is that even though is says 'Queen' on the label it may not be the right dimension for the new deeper mattresses they sell now days. Something to look out for when ordering online or through a catalog. Check the measurements. They can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Comments (35)Hi, there! I haven't logged onto the site for ages. We are heading up to the NC house on Friday and since I am still "nightstandless", I thought that I would take a look at my old thread for any new input. I have concluded that I will only find the size and style that I am looking for in French antiques, so I am searching EBay for affordable options...and who knows? - we may get lucky in Asheville. To: Lyne (l mtl) Yes! It is Henredon. I looked at the link you posted and I am certain that it is the same table. I absolutely love this table! It can generously seat six as is and eight are possible, but snug. Since it is an extension table, we have the option of pulling out both (or one) of the leafs that are stacked under the main board, which doubles the size. In these photos, I only pulled out one leaf to comfortably seat eight. We were fortunate to find this table at a furniture warehouse that acquires overstocks and sellouts of high quality furniture and discounts it at least or better than the prices offered in Hickory and High Point (NC furniture mart Mecca). I wanted to mention this because you might find similar dealers in your area. To: flyleft Yes! It is indeed a wood-fired oven. It is from a company in California, Mugnaini Imports. It is a lot of work, but the results of my labor are amazing. Unfortunately, this leads to relentless begging for dinner parties from friends and family. We installed the oven with a remodeling project. I was somewhat ignorant about the oven when our architect suggested it, so I blithely agreed. Knowing what I know now, I would suggest that anyone considering a wood-fired oven investigate a gas starter to make the process of firing and preheating the oven less tedious. Here is a link that might be useful: Mugnaini...See MorePoll: Do your bedroom night stands match?
Comments (49)oceanna, Two words: reciprocating saw. :-) Move as much as you can into another room, cover everything else with dropcloths and/or old sheets, and have at it. We've had to take furniture out in pieces a few times. About 10 years ago we had an enormously-heavy sleeper loveseat from the 60s that DH and his two brothers somehow bent the space-time continuum to get up into our third-floor apartment (top floor of a mid-1800s three-flat), but there was NO way it was getting back down. We disassembled it with a crowbar and hammer and hucked the pieces out the window, which really confused the downstairs neighbors. :-) It was a pity that we had to render it unusable for someone else when I would rather have put it out on the curb as we lived in a very poor neighborhood and it would have been snatched up in a matter of minutes even in its worn-out state, but it had become pretty much unusable for us too and the apartment was far too small to blow that much space on something that couldn't be used - the living room was just barely big enough for one full-size futon couch (moved in and out disassembled), one chair, and a tv stand! That was it! Anyway, if you detach the plywood-box section from the headboard (and footboard if there is one), it is more likely that the headboard(/footboard) could be removed intact and reusable - if you post them on Craigslist, just specify that they are extremely heavy so people should be prepared to bring along help. Cut the plywood into smaller sections that can be moved, although a circular saw would probably be easier for that part. If you/your son aren't up to doing this yourself, hiring a handyman (through Craigslist? heehee) to do the cutting-up and lugging shouldn't be too awfully expensive especially if you don't go through one of those dreadful overpriced franchises. You'll have some cleaning to do in the bedroom but it's better than being stuck with furniture items you no longer like and cannot get rid of. I do know what you mean, BTW. Two houses ago we had a very large master bedroom (or at least very large to me, small compared to some folks'!) and purchased secondhand a 6 piece bedroom set, all pretty large pieces, which fit the room quite nicely. I got quite bored with the matchy-matchy thing and when we moved it did not fit at all into the new house's smaller bedrooms and couldn't really be divided up between rooms. A Craigslister got a nice bargain, since we just needed to get rid of these things that were crowding us out....See MoreNeed triple dresser and nightstand for master bedoom
Comments (12)Need better photos of entire room. Yes! At a glance, it seems you have "too much going on" in a small space. I suspect your bed is oversized for the room, and the window is complicating this issue; however, I'm not sure -- based upon this one picture -- that I'm on the right track at all. My best idea: Remove the screen from behind the bed ... cover the entire wall behind the bed with drapes -- wall to wall. Something in a deep, rich color -- simple pattern would be okay. This would give you a simple backdrop for the bed -- bring in some color too -- and it would allow the bed to be the single star of the room rather than one item jumbled in with a bunch of other stuff. Yeah, yeah ... the cat ... still, it's the only idea I have. Does the cat have somewhere else in the house to climb? If you provide "something better" -- and if you regularly provide catnip in that something better place -- perhaps the cat will adopt that as "his spot". The bed's totally wrong here, but this is the general concept -- note that this room isn't large. I like this one because it has the hanging pendant lighting in front of the drapes -- the lamp to the right of the bed looks cramped, and I don't know if you can move the bed to the left, but a couple sleek hanging pendents (more simple than would take up less space than the lamp: Consider the side tables too ... they don't seem to be anything special. To keep things sleek and simple, how about small built-in shelves? They'd take up so much less space, which would allow the bed the "breathing room" it so badly needs. Something kinda like this -- but without the distracting cord and with a more appropriate light? Chandlier has sentimental value and is staying Could the chandy go into another room? The bed is a strong statement ... so is the chandelier. The two of them together fight for attention, and instead of being positive items, they're approaching "too many clowns" syndrome. Just simply do not know how to complement flame mahogany. It is so decorative I am not sure mirrored-faced nightstands and dresser wouldn’t clash. Eh, I don't think "too decorative" is a thing. Rather, it's a large and strong piece, and it needs some "calm" around it. It is a very large piece for the size of the room, and proportion is a problem ... this can be fixed -- not by bringing in more, but by bringing in less /simplifying everything around the large focal point. If this were my room, I'd go with a mid-tone smokey blue drape with a tone-on-tone pattern across the back wall ... paint the side walls the same blue ... cream colored lace bedding ... and simple, sleek brass pendant lighting on each side ... small built-in shelves in the same wood as the bed, and if they have an under-shelf, make it blue to blend in. Absolutely not mirror-faced nightstands. Absolutely no to black furniture. Wouldn't match and is impossible to keep clean. The dresser, if it's on another wall, might work. I'd downsize the pillows ... you want the bed to look luxurious, but the pillows need to be -- what's the right term? More restrained? Simple isn't the right word -- what you have is simple. Neater? More streamlined? You want the bed to be the star /pillows to be supporting cast. Depending upon your budget, some crown molding would really improve the room. The bed is highly ornate, whereas, the room is quite plain ... it's a mis-match. Perhaps a stenciled ceiling?...See MoreRelated Professionals
