Best manufacturers of quality couches?
Comments (13)We have a Crate & Barrel sectional sofa, and while it is very comfy, the build quality is much less than furniture I've had custom made from an extremely reasonable company called Carolina Chair - http://www.carolinachair.com/. It's family owned and in my experience is really top-notch. Kathy and her brother are extremely pleasant to do business with. I've had them make a large sleeper chair with my own fabric and they did little tweaks to their standard designs/sizes that you couldn't do with most of the big manufacturers. They've also made me one of their standard queen sleeper sofas with their fabric. We upgraded to their most comfy inflatable mattress for my son's room and his buddies love it when they sleep over. I've also bought one of their swivel-rocker chairs and matching storage ottoman cube. All are very well-made pieces of furniture in my opinion. I highly recommend them. (Not sure if it is ok to plug a business like this, but it seems like the OP asked for sources. I have no connection with them other than being a satisfied, repeat customer.) The reason I didn't have our sectional made by Carolina Chair is that they could not do any top-stitching on the sectional fabric, which is something I loved a LOT about the C & B sectional. The sectional is in a basement playroom with a tile floor and no carpeting. The sofa moves around very easily if a teen sort of falls into it, which they seem to do. I worry that the clips that hold the pieces together will snap one of these days. Anyway, I feel my Carolina Chair furniture is much heftier and one of their sectionals wouldn't move around on the tile floor as much as the C&B does. BTW, our C&B sectional is also on sale - it's this one, and the fabric I love the look of is the charcoal with "contrast stitching." http://www.crateandbarrel.com/lounge-slipcovered-3-piece-sectional-sofa/s485873...See MoreAny recs for a sleeper sofa?
Comments (13)Pps7- way more comfortable. We lost our guest bedroom when we decided to have my mom come and live with us. The air bed always feels squishy by morning and does not feel as supportive as a platform bed which is what American leather is.. No springs etc. you can even upgrade the mattress to tempurpedic. Tinan - we got ours from room and board. You can buy the comfort sleeper system from American Leather directly or from any of the retailers who have licensed the system - crate and barrel, room and board etc. They just introduced a modular system a couple of months ago....See MoreExperience with Crate and Barrel Barrett sofa?
Comments (1)I’ve purchased three CB sofas. I still have one that’s rarely used. I have not purchased the sofa you selected. My first sofa was purchased maybe 13-14 years ago. It was a slipcover sofa that had 2 slip covers. The cushions broke down after three years. CB sent me replacement cushions and those broke down after another three years. I replaced that sofa with a small single cushion sofa. I kept that sofa 5 years and gave it away because it was as hard as a rock. CB told me the cushion would get softer with use, but it never did. The sofa I kept, and love, is the Petrie sofa in leather. It’s firm, but it’s rarely used....See MoreHelp me find a similar couch/sofa please!
Comments (9)Since comfort is the most important thing for your needs, you need to go physically to stores and sit on the sofas to find the one that is most comfortable for your needs. Everything about the construction and even style of a sofa will impact how an individual perceives it as "comfortable". The height, the depth of the seat, the height of the back, the materials used for cushions and pillows - even whether it has coils or is higher quality construction all have impact. It is odd that you found a sleeper sofa to be very comfortable as they are generally a compromise in comfort for most people as they have them for function but give up a certain level of comfort. If you have questions about the "quality" of specific brands of sofa that would be different since that is more or less objective....See MoreRelated Professionals
