Wallpapered Beadboard Ceiling - The process (lots of pics)
Comments (37)Gosh, thank you everyone - it feels really good to be able to give something back here; I've learned so much from y'all! awm the paint is my mix of RH Saffron & Butter, done in Aura paints. I really like it in every light - this room gets a LOT of light, but none of it is direct sun. I tried a ridiculous number of sample paints, & finally decided to have my mix custom done in Aura. Unfortunately I bought too many gallons of RH paints (I do love their colors!) before discovering Aura & Ellen Kennon) The kitty is Django. & yes, he is a happy kitty, except when he's hungry. He was rescued as a tiny baby, from a dumpster, hungry, & 12 years later I still haven't convinced him that he'll always have enough food. daisy yes - those are the infamous stairs. Doing projects like this does make me understand at least one good reason for blogging, but good heavens, if I started blogging I'd have to read other people's blogs, & I already know how lost you can get in them! I spend enough time on the internet as it is! I guess this IS my blog lol! Besides which, I appreciate the well-written blogs - here you can just pound out the words w/o paying too much attention to editing. Not always such a good thing, I guess ;-D...See MoreDo you think I can find wallpaper like this?
Comments (13)The short answer really is "No". I fell in love with that same pattern two years ago and obsessed about how to make it work in our loo. And how to justify its cost. And if I couldn't find a near substitute. The pattern is copyrighted and as nearly as I can tell is only made by Sandersons and a company in Canada. Both of which seemed costly. After spending way too much time looking for a "similar" paper and up against the get the-loo-done deadline, I finally bit the bullet and ordered the paper from a Sandersons book at a local wallpaper store. I do think the Canadian source would have been a little cheaper. You can find it by googling William Morris wallpaper. How do you plan to use it? I put it above a plate rail with one of the greens below. I'm still not thrilled with my green color choice. But I still do love the pattern....See MoreDo you want to see my chic wallpaper border?
Comments (21)Thanks, Susan - I'm sure there are better ways to do it, but all I did was take two plate hangers (from michaels)and hook them together in the back, one hooked to the top and the other hooked to the bottom and hookied together in the middle. The platter is fairly large and required two hanger. Then, I nailed one small picture hanger in the center of the backsplash on the grout line and hung it on that....See MoreWhat is flock wallpaper and do I want it in my home?
Comments (23)thanks marti8a. Funny, I was just asking DH how scaffolding on a curved staircase would work....Bec I'd really need to get right up to the top (no paintbrush on a pole for a wallpapering job!) Good points re dust. I find that cat hair clings to a bare wall as it is. On the bright side, the higher up bits of wallpaper wouldn't get damaged by kids' dirty fingers....and toys scraping the walls after being launched down the stairwell. I just can't picture me enjoying a solid colour on that wall, and the painted stripes on my livingroom wall would be fun, but again, hard to do bec of the height of the stairwell (plus, I've already done stripes). I wonder if a couple of large wall paper panels (mounted to plywood or something) would give me the patterns that I want. I can't see running a chair rail and then wall papering below it If you look closely, you can see the large horizontal tone on tone stripes in my LR (and the too small area rug - I'm trying to stop the chairs from sliding down the hallway, while I figure out either a good underpad for the hide rug, or, follow my heart and acquire a silky shag rug - hee hee hee!)...See MoreP O
