Corian countertops - what to do with scraps?
Comments (11)Hi! I just did a kitchen remodel and kept the piece of Meganite (copycat Corian-type surface) from my stove cutout. The guy who did my counters said it's "easy" to cut, he uses a jigsaw with a new, sharp blade. Meganite is softer than corian.... I haven't tried to cut it yet, getting up the courage. Have you cut any of your Corian yet? Was it easy to work with? I want to cut a "halibut" shape out of my stuff, to add to a mosaic backsplash I'm making for the new kitchen and a top for an old plant stand base..... Another idea... use your corian to make a kitchen island top. Have fun! whifflewhim (newbie to forum)...See MoreMounting a Kitchen island island counter support post w/o a boot?
Comments (5)I agree the posts in the pic are great with that island and look- it was the pic my builder used to show me what mine would look like if I did the newel posts on my own build, As they did there. It also goes great with what they did on the stairs in that home. However, I personally, am going for a more modern/industrial Look so was wondering about alternative post support options that may not require such a “molding” or boot. Was hoping anyone had suggestions since I’m pretty clueless on this aspect. even if I had steel posts fabricated for it like what was fabricated for my stairs...how would those attach to the floor? A plate? Attached pics I’ve seen online - but ive learned ideas online don’t mesh w reality quite a bit....See MoreWhat size islands over my 9'x3' kitchen island?

Comments (2)If the fixture isn't part of a collection such that you can buy different variations on a theme easily, I find it's best to at least stay with the same manufacturer so that the finishes match. "Gun metal" and "coffee ombre" are going to mean different things to different manufacturers and in fact may not exist with other makers. But if the fixtures are far enough away from each other that no one can really make a direct comparison you can get close but not match and no one will notice. I think @acm has provided you with some good options that are thinking outside the box a bit....See Morelive_wire_oak
