Nobody gives a hoot
Comments (143)Thanks so much, Iowa_Jade. I miss my work and my gardens like crazy, but you and others here have kept my spirits up with your kindness. Your shrine is going to be stunning (I was going to say "divine", but I don't want to do that to anyone this early in the morning). Alana, thank you and I'm glad you found it. We're on Facebook as Humpty Dumpty House Foundation. There's another Humpty Dumpty Foundation (no House), but they're in Australia and have a zillion likes. You can't miss ours -- it's all about gardens and garden design. Rocksnroses mentioned posting a request for likes, but I noticed that most fb pages already have an option on the upper left to "Invite your friends to like this page". It's missing on the Humpty Dumpty House Foundation page, and I'm hoping someone here knows how to fix that? I've scoured Facebook for an answer. Apparently others on fb have the same problem, but nobody has found a solution. I've been told people can also invite their friends by clicking the "share" icon near the top, but that's not self-evident. If anyone knows a solution, please let me know. Also, I'm posting a link to our Facebook below. Here is a link that might be useful: Facebook Page for Humpty Dumpty House...See MoreUPDATE: Sounds of summer - 2
Comments (151)I should have said I get to look at Irish Eyes over here. Not mine, the hubbies. I'm a brown eyed girl. My Brown Eyed Girl! That's what he sings to me. Love that song! Bunny, you are so much like my best friend (also named Tracy). Silly as ever but smart as a whip. She says the darndest things and just busts us up! One of my favorite quirks of hers is she is constantly mixing metaphors or just makes new words. She will say things like "flustrated". She means flustered, slams it with aggravated, and boom we have a whole new word. But she can outsmart me any day of the week. LOVE THAT GIRL! Wouldn't change her for the world or you either! You should see the words she makes when she has a couple of beers in her. I then serve as interpreter. You are special... I keep thinking of the church lady on Saturday Night Live. Picture her taking over for Mr. Rogers. SCAREY!...See MoreNight time sound in the woods
Comments (14)Hey there Civil Enger TN -- I'm a EE in MD. Live near the water. I'm fairly sure you are hearing a water bird (not a frog.) Here they are grey, long beak, long skinny legs, body around 14" or so and wingspan probably twice that. Agree with the start-up whistle but the croaking is gross at times and resembles a large animal gagging I think. Have not looked up the type bird but I'm betting that is what you are hearing....See MoreSuch a pleasant sound outside my deck, tonight!
Comments (19)Great pictures, Nicholsworth! Two summers ago we had a juvenile great horned owl in the tree behind my house. He came a few times, but we could hear him in the trees around us. I took a picture of him but my night photography leaves a lot to be desired. You can only make out his eyes! :) I got very close to him too and he stayed put. So thrilling! The birds seem to be very active here right now. They are making lots of noise and I love hearing them. I wish it was warm enough to open the windows. Lots of activity at the bird feeder too....See Moreglenda_al
