is one big drawer always better than two smaller drawers
Comments (12)okay... this makes sense. the drawer arrangement is sort of busy and the idea of interior dividers is a good one. In the last house our drawers were 24" wide and I found it difficult to keep thing organized especially the smaller items like measuring cups, ramekins, tupperware lids, things like that. i think with the bank of two drawers I'd be likely to go back to inset which i really do love more than full overlay. thanks for your feedback. always so appreciated by me!...See MoreThree or four drawers in lower cab? Drawer heights?
Comments (18)I ended up going with 4 drawers in all my drawer banks and all fo the base cabinets in my main work areas are drawer banks. I measured EVERYTHING and found there were only 5-6 things that I planned to store in a drawer that wouldn't fit, and so I am planning to store them either in uppers, in the sink bases (will have separate trash pullouts), or nearby in some base cabinets that are only 17" deep. I, too, struggled with the problem of getting banks of different configurations to look right together. I finally just decided all drawer banks would be 6,8,8,8 which will give me about 4,6,6,6 of actual drawer height. I keep second guessing my decision, but then I go back to my list of measurements and feel reassured. I figure I can always get a couple new drawer fronts and reconfigure if I hate it....See MoreTop drawers in wide drawer stacks - one drawer or two?
Comments (16)I only have one wide stack, and I split the top in two - like Lisa_a, they are used for different things. One is potholders, which gets used all the time; the other is the junk/tool drawer, which is used far less (and at non-kitchen times). It may have been weird/awkward opening a 34" drawer ever time I needed a potholder. I would let function dictate. If you are using them both for similar things, definitely one....See MoreLacanche owners - are two ovens enough or would you recommend three?
Comments (19)sornbarry - After speaking with our local SZ repair guy, he suggested that we spring for the new unit, as apparently it's not the parts on the old SZs but the box itself that begins to deteriorate around the 25+ year mark. Not to mention that the cabinets for our older model would be completely different from the cabinets used to create the integrated look and there'd be no way to retrofit the unit once it died. <Sigh> Not that we were looking to spend the extra cash, but I am a strong believer in doing things right the first time (especially seeing as we have no plans to move anytime soon). You're right about the Superba, and I've only recently discovered its convection properties, which I love. The Superba also got us out of quite the jam last Christmas when the Dacor straight up stopped working partway through cooking our prime rib roast, and it was the Superba that picked up the slack. Most of the negative reviews I've read about the Superba have to do with self-cleaning mode, which I don't like using in ovens anyways. Needless to say, I think we're okay having it stick around a while longer - it's certainly a lot easier to change out than a Sub Zero! Thanks again for all of your thoughts and comments. I really appreciate being able to bounce ideas off of someone who has been in such a remarkably similar situation as my own!...See Morescrappy25
