I absolutely love our carpet! It is by Beaulieu, their Hollytex line, Embraceable You. We recarpeted our family room (palace green) two summers ago and this is the best carpet ever. The family room is where we live and the carpet does not mat whatsoever, and does not show footprints either. Every time we vacuum, the piling comes right back up (where we have furniture or the toybin) Plan to do the rest of the house in another two years or so with the same carpet (different color though). My electrician (aka hubby) finally got my second pendant hung over the island today!! You may or may not remember when I posted this pic back in September or October Right after I built and installed my temp island. The area looked, quite frankly, somewhat ridiculous. An 8 ft long island with this one lone pendant hanging over one end of it. The reason it was there was because that was an existing box that used to have a fluorescent light box on it. I knew I wanted to put in another box ran off of the first one and install 2 pendants, well, today it finally got done!! Yay!! Not only is it aesthetically pleasing but there is soooo much more light over my island now! Can I just mention again how much I love the smoke colored glass in these pendants? Also, in keeping with our weekly thread "no accomplishment is too small", I tracked down some spare 2x6 and cut blocks to fit in the old window spot. I also got the piece of drywall cut to install. The only reason I haven't yet is because I am thinking of creating a "time capsule" to put in the wall before I close it off. Chances are that spot will be opened again at some point in the future, it is where the MIL quarters and main house meet. Even if I never open it back up, I thought it would be cool to leave a "treasure" there for someone to discover in the future. Tell me truthfully, does that sound really lame or kinda cool?

I’m not sure I haven’t deleted anything. I do take everyone’s comments seriously but some of the things people were pointing out cannot be changed right now or we don’t want it to be changed. Thank you for pointing out the cabinets I will look into it for sure. I’m very confident that our house will be built to our standards we have walked through many of our builders homes and have even talked with past customers who say they love their homes and the craftsmanship that was put into it. When it comes to contentment it is partly that for sure at least for my husband and I. When you see houses or interiors you wish you could have but at the end of the day know you cannot afford it you do have to be content. There was a home plan from our builder that we absolutely loved but no way we could have afforded it so we looked at every other plan they had until we found this one that was in our budget and loved equally. It won’t be the biggest fanciest house in our subdivision but it works perfectly for us the way it is. When I asked about changes I meant interior color choices or our carpet, tile, quartz etc...not layout changes or anything like that because we don’t have the budget for that nor do we want it changed so I guess I should have been more clear. I get that everyone’s advice here is invaluable and I’m glad I was given it and I do appreciate it. But we are keeping our home the way it is.

I would leave the cabinets, they look to be in excellent condition, and plan for new countertops. I dont like beige either, so I agree with the suggestion of either light gray for the carpets, or preferably pick out bedding and work from it for your carpeting. After seeing your tile, I can understand, why you want to change it in a yr or so. Its very very busy. Congratulations, on your new home. It looks to have been well maintained, and is very clean, and thats a huge plus.
