Opinion on this wallpaper for Powder Room
Hi, I’m updating my powder room, and the current paper is peeling away so I want to have it replaced. I’ll be changing the vanity and paint colors as well. Opinions on the paper itself? Does it look dated? I wanted a bold look, and was thinking of painting the rest of the walls a light color as well and maybe add some trim (chair rail probably).

Ive seen it in person and the colours are more like the picture I posted. @tartanmeup I never considered how it would look with the flooring. Maybe you are right that the contrast is too stark. I know the paper is dark and so I also have samples of the two. below. Do you like these better? Which one? One wall? All walls? What paint colour with it? Like the blue one above, the scale on this is bigger. I have samples of both and the colours (on my screen at least) are pretty true to the real thing. This is why I LOVE this site. Comments (19)A black toilet is out. That was a design decision earlier on. My style for this room is contemporary/modern in sync with modern Italian vanity. I do like large florals but thought it might overpower the room. Comments (87)@Allison0704 @amykath Thank you. It really isnt too hard. I have hung wallpaper before, for my mother when I was probably 15. She handed me the rolls, and a tub of wallpaper paste and said do this. It really isn't complicated, it's fiddly. The wallpaper I used was very easy to work with. They print the specific # of rolls you want, and they have varying lengths you can order depending on ceiling height. Pattern-wise the top of every roll is the same. This makes it very easy to pattern match. Cutting around outlets and obstacles, like thermostat, is a little hard. Working in a small space is challenging. The first thing they tell you on the Spoonflower website, is 'recruit a friend.' Well there is no way two people were fitting in my powder room. Fortunately I also watched a video on YouTube and she started with, "I am going to do this by myself, it's perfectly OK to do this with 1 person." She actually also addressed my biggest concern was how to handle the fact that my house is crooked, it's over 100 years and there is not a true, plumb, wall anywhere. She stressed not to line up to the ceiling, but to drop a plumbline and line up your first strip to that. That definitely helped me. 5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoI have a powder room that has not been updated since the early ‘90s. It is so blah. I am pretty conservative in the rest of my home, but I thought the powder room would be the little jewel box where I can LET LOOSE. So I am going for color! and bold! (SO unlike me usually!). I’ve saved some of these picsfor inspiration.
Check out the brass trim with nailheads along the wainscoting. And the sconces’ green lampshades. Wallpaper is by Tulu Textiles.

Decor for only the very bravest, the Ralph Lauren restaurant in NYC men’s room. Not for me, but oh, that gold ceiling and green tiles!

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoAll my bathrooms have been wallpapered and that is saying a lot! So, with the brown vanity and white sink, consider this Thibaut paper. It is one of my favorites and comes in many color ways.

5 years agoThis is very different from your style, but there are some similarities to the bluish wallpaper you chose. You can at least get a sense of it. This is a combo laundry/bathroom, and is in a (real) farmhouse. Everyone that sees the room loves the wallpaper.

5 years agoPaper with a smaller repeating pattern might be better with several items to cut and place correctly -- but this is pretty / also in aqua, etc...
