One of the reasons I love spring is all the surprises it brings, like this little wildflower I found on my woodland walk yesterday.
Pretty little flower, Annie.
No pretty surprises here. Just another puzzle.
Cooler and drizzly here...so that sweet little flower gives me a smile today.
Air temp 30°. Surfing weather on Superior.
Sanguinaria canadensis, Bloodroot
Thanks Summer...I figured someone would know what it was. We have a restaurant in the area called bloodroot, but I never knew what the flower looked like. Now I know!
this kite surfer jumped several times for us.. ;)
I painted up my old froggie pot and planted it with succulents,
Love how it turned out.
Nothing in my garden yet....or in the woods....
I love wild violets.
This is turning out to be a very good year for violets. All the lawns that are not chemically treated have carpets of purple flowers with some yellow dandelions thrown in for good measure. It's beautiful to drive down the street and see all the flowers in the grass. I have a pretty good crop myself. No chemicals on my grass.
Daffodils have been out for almost a week.
My (fairly) new camera could take a picture ... but I don't know how, and likely lack the necessary connectors, to show them to you.
This is 'Connie Mayer' an epi called a Dragon Fruit. I grew it from a cutting, and it was growing a phenomenal 12 inches a week!! But the wind blew it off of my porch and the feral hogs destroyed it completely.
For the past several years I've had beautiful (to me) crops of white clover appear in different areas of my yard both front and back. Next to my roses by the porch, it reminds me of an English Cottage in a way. Also have a tiny patch of Spring Beauties down front that I carefully mow around every year.
I don't mind dandelions but I do mow them off. There used to be some Indian Paint Brush down in the yard too but I haven't seen them for a couple years.
My neighbor has a lawn company come to spray her small lawn. She doesn't want any "intruders" in her grass. I know she gets upset with me esp. about the dandelions.
Taken at Keukenhoff Gardens in the Netherlands.
This was the entrance at Loretta Lynn's house when we were there 2 years ago.
