Need Fun/Different Game room ideas!
Comments (10)When I did a hang out room for the kids years ago I did it with the thoughts that all tops needed to be nearly bullet proof, the sofa had to be leather so I could clean it, I would revamp used things so I would not worry about things getting destroyed and the room had to be suitable for adults as well. I do not have a picture of the sofa area on the other side because that area is now an office but the sofa was leather and matched the drapes (and hit dirt). Those bar tables on each back corner were rusty and used so I painted the base stalk to match the used bar stool bases and added glass mosaics to the bottom and painted the tops adding several coats of poly. The picture frame came from a thrift store and I added my own mixed media art on top of an old painting I also painted the other picture. The room would only take a small pool table, I bought it used for $150 and had it re-felted. The coffee table near the sofa came from a garage sale and I added a bullet proof granite top. On top of the coffee table was a very cool antique brass chess set (from a garage sale). I also had two ottomans near the sofa and coffee table in reds, raisin , purple and teal tapestry fabric for extra seating and also because it would not hamper the pool playing in limited space. From that area (sofa) you could view a wall mounted TV for sports. So, even though the room was not large I still had areas, areas for game playing and TV watching, areas for snacks, and the center for pool playing....See MoreDesigning around a vintage range, ideas?
Comments (19)Rexem, Thanks for posting your pictures. It's so great to see how you used the color in your space. I'm definitely getting more ideas... I went to see my range this week. It's in overall good condition and should be usable after a good cleaning. I even get the bonus of double kettles for the thermowell and possibly the thermo eye. There were some extra burner parts in a box, I think that's what it is. I've ordered up re-prints of the manuals, so this should shed some light on this. I'm going to need to find the 2nd hand from the left, and the handle on the service cabinet. I'm heading on vacation today, so I couldn't bring her home, but when we get back we're picking her up. Our vacation is taking us back home, to CA. I know there are several antique stove places there, so I'm trying to see if I can make a jaunt to one of them. Thanks for the help on the colors. I'm still on the fence with colors and the "decor". I'm glad that you found a color that matches. Even if I don't use that paint, I can use the color swatch when coordinating other elements. I was on the fence about the range hood. I was seriously considering the slightly smaller Ventahood classic as the size would have been better suited to my space, but in the end I opted for a SS hood from Overstock. Price was my single motivating factor. It was less than half the price of the classic in white, not even counting the upcharge for the custom paint. I've spoken to a place locally and am going to see if I can have my hood powder coated to match. If not, I'll probably live with it for a while and see about upgrading down the road. I envy your pantry. I really love your herb and spice bottles. Where did you find those? BeckySharp, Thanks for the heads up on the Chirp china. Very cute. I'll definitley consider it if I decide to go with the bird fabric. Kathe...See MorePlease help with colors/floor ideas-might be fun!
Comments (16)Big week for me...chose the soapstone (Minas)-and the fabricator threw in the marble (Carrara-but he had a remnant the right size). Have been tripping over samples of the Daltile "English Grey" and the "Brazilian Green" and Arizona tile's "Prairie Dusk" on the kitchen floor. Decided on 18" square tiles for floor. Have sample colors from Big Chill, AND got a start date from the contractor...2 weeks away, so I need to get a move on and get flooring, etc. ordered next week. I like the English Grey the best for the floor...it reads like the tile in my inspiration photo, and like the floor in the kitchen in the link below. My new concern (and maybe I should start a new thread) is in the mix of the cool (the floor is a cool grey) and the warm colors (the range backsplash.) Is there a trick to blending these successfully (I have the beadboard and cabinet colors to play with, as well as the fridge)? Here is a link that might be useful: unfitted kitchen, grey floor...See MoreNeed bathroom tile design ideas to work with vintage Bermuda Coral tub
Comments (6)Hello everyone. It has been 3 months since I last provided an update because I had to stop everything to care for my father who passed away about 6 weeks ago. I am back on track and the update is as follows. I learned that the color of the tub is actually Persian Brown like Stephanie has and I was only going in circles trying to figure that out because the Porc-a-fix people had the wrong color in their bottles of touch up paint that I had purchased to fix some damage. I took the advice of someone on another thread to go with black and white and here is where I am so far. After it is all tiled and the cabinet goes in, my next advice question will be what color to paint (or a wallpaper that won't fight with the greek key accent tile?) the walls above the wainscotting. I painted my vanity black and will get a quartz countertop that looks like black marble and the fixtures will be polished gold with black handles. below is across from the tub what will be closest with mirrored bypass doors and a floating dressing table...See Morehoussaon
