That's how democracy works in America ojo, the President can veto a bill. Elections have consequences. Congress can override the veto.

Is this what you call democracy? Sure he can veto and he has, I got that, but explain to me why or how this is in any way a good thing J4.

trump is not only worried about his $A connection$ but now that the price of gas is already on the rise his $A buddies could and would give gas an extra price boost by imposing more oil cutbacks. Almost Anything goes with his supporters, mulligans are easy to give except when it cost$ them.

btw - Last winter when gas was around $1.95/gal in many areas I said it was a good time to tack on a nickle or dime as an infrastructure tax when no one would take notice..........too late now, that infrastructure boat has sailed.

Fuhgetabauti do you have an answer to my question> We are assisting Saudi Arabia in a proxy war against Iran in Yemen. This war has killed thousands of innocent people many of them children, we have helped to create a humanitarian crisis that includes starvation and epidemics. Our Congress, not known for bipartisan or humanitarian gestures wants to stop it but Trump says no, let's keep on with this atrocity.

How can this be the right thing to do?

Simon Tisdall ends his piece (attached) thus:

It’s all of a piece – and Trump’s grubby Yemen veto is but the latest proof. Let’s face it. This worst-ever American president, led by the nose by the Saudis, bedeviled by greed and hubris, is a threat to the world and his own country. He has gone rogue. So when will Americans bring him to heel?

Unfortunately there are not enough votes to override Trump’s veto which were pretty much along party lines. Isn’t it Congress who has the right to declare war yet Trump has said this would hinder his Constitutional ability.

Why isn't our UN ambassador out in front explaining major foreign policy decisions? You know, the highly experienced and well respected diplomat who leads US foreign policy? You mean we don't have one? Our foreign policy is conducted by twitter like everything else?

This is a serious abuse of power by Trump, why is that not more of an issue than it appears to be?

.........it's no different than anything else. Trump seems to have managed carte blanche with the Republican Congress

Trump is setting precedence that will be harmful down the road for future Presidents. Bypassing Congress and not testifying to special counsel. More power to the executive branch is risky for our democracy.
