I have ordered several more times since my original reply to this thread. I have always used Ideal for mail orders and have always been very pleased with both the chicks and the customer service. Again, I choose them because of their option to buy pullets on many of the birds I want that McMurray only offers as straight runs. I've heard very good things about both places so I would think either one would be acceptable. Ideal is also a tad cheaper. The few times I've tried to buy chicks from the feed store didn't always end up so great. The pros were that I got to pick the chicks I wanted and therefore you could see what kind of shape they were in, generally. The downside was that I had only a 50-50 chance of getting a pullet even when the cages were clearly labeled as pullets. If someone knew enough about days-old chicks to sex them on the spot, obviously they would have better odds. I thought maybe the people putting them into the cages got some mixed up or the chicks jumped into other areas, not sure but I ended up with a band of roosters when I should have had pullets. In the end, I still use Ideal and if I happen to see something at the feed store I really want I might just get it :) Lori

Moving dirt from another area of the yard is not an option. I've done that in the past, and there's no more "extra". The company I'm talking about is called "Missouri Organic". Their definition of their top soil is: "sandy loam mix pulverized and screened for constant texture and ease of application" The definition of their compost is: "humus rich organic matter made from lawn, garden, and tree trimmings, thoroughly processed using bacteria, heat, and aeration to a state most readily and effectively used by the soil" It's lab tested for contamination from herbicide and pesticide contamination, free of weed seeds and harmful pathogens. It's way cheaper and better quality to buy this stuff in bulk, than to buy bags at Home Depot. Deanna

Well, alto I am glad to see you buying US Products, "Wolf", You are not buying it as a "Safe Bet" Unfortunately Consumer Reports still reports on much above average failure rates for both Wolf and Sub Zero, in fact 4 times as many failures for Sub Zero as appliances made by Whirlpool. Now I know there are those that say Consumer Reports is "Biased against" the higher price brands, but we are not talking "Ratings" here, just failure rates as reported by their readers.Checking this site, except for some flaking of the cobalt interior of the Wolf oven---which you aren't getting anyway, We dont see many negative posts about either brand(Wolf or Sub Zero) alto I know of at least one user here, that did have a Suz Zero failure, but really didn't mention it Until was talking about appliances in "General" then casually mentioned the SZ was the only appliance that needed service. Get what makes You happy and what you think will fit your style of cooking--I just didn't want you to be under the misconception that the Wolf was a safer bet than others you mentioned Gary

Ideal is a basic window and mostly used by your " run of the mill contractor" who is more concerned with cost opposed to quality..although a step up from silverline, pella, or MI windows. still, its a price sensitive type window. the quality brands would be Himark, okna, soft lite, gorell, and sunrise. virtually all vinyl windows are custom. standard sizes are whats sold from the floor of home depot but never actually fit existing openings. you would need to make an opening in order to accomodate the so called standard size.
