building new closets - shelf question

Gcubed
I am building 2 closets.

1 is a pantry closet that is about 12.5” deep.
I am planning on ~11” shelves x 6 spaces 18” from floor, 14”, 12” and next 3 are 10” apart. Fixed shelves bc that is what o can afford to have built.

My question for the 2nd closet is what depth should I make those shelves. It will be a ~30”deep x 50” wide closet. There will be 3 shelves: 1 30” from floor, then 10” and then one 38” above that one with a hanging rod (~14” from back of closet). I was thinking of making those shelves 18” deep. Does that sound ok? Or should they be wider?
