seal mower deck to prevent rusting
Comments (6)What i did and so far it's working. On an older model Troy bilt rider i took the deck off, removed the three blades and spindels. Pressure washed the deck let it thourghly dry and had a friend spray it with some leftover liquid bed liner. This was last fall and so far it is holding up pretty well. I used it on leaves last fall, and have mowed twice so far this spring. After each use i use a blower to clean underneath. Not sure how long it will last....See Morerust prevention on hand tools
Comments (2)When WD40 dries out, it seems to leave a thin hard varnish like film that does prevent rust. Try spraying it on a piece of clean steel and let it fully dry. You will see this protective film. I would not spray WD40 on anything with close fitting moving parts (like a dial caliper)because of this film. I had a service person who worked on sewing machines tell me how he tried spraying WD40 on machines that came in for service. If any of these machines were left unused for a few weeks, they seized up. Needless to say, he stopped using it. Charles Ranheim...See MorePreventing rust on black eyed peas
Comments (1)I think that is not much soil to grow that number of plants, so likely we are seeing the beginnings of nutrient deficiency. In general yellowing/browning leaves that start at the bottom and work upwards is indicative of insufficient nutrition....See MoreWill putting screws in galvanized iron allow rust
Comments (2)The answer is yes but can be miniumized to the extent that it should not prevent mounting and injoying the lights. Galvanized iron and anodized aluminum are two intirely different materials, find out now which you have to prevent mistakes down the line. For this job,use stainless steel screws to minimunize corosion. If you take the time to drill and tap holes for aluminum machine screws, that fartur delay's or even prevent's corosion. If you decide to use self drilling steel screws, put a neopreme washer between metals and/or where screw enters rail. If the lights have metal brackets they should be insolated as well. Google "galvanic action" and "electrolysis" for a better understanding....See MoreAnglophilia
