Opinions on CL hutch for foyer
Comments (11)Thanks so much for all of the great advice. I was questioning the age of the piece also, based on the lack of wear and tear. My pine baking table is almost falling apart and has several stains and wormholes, which makes sense since it's such an old piece. I have no problem with a reproduction, since I'd prefer it to be sturdy, but don't want to pay almost $1000 on CL for a piece that wouldn't cost much more from a retailer. My foyer is large so it would accommodate a large hutch, but I'd like to find a piece that doesn't scream "dining room!" I can understand the comments advising that this particular hutch may not be suited for a foyer. I'm really at a loss trying to decorate this room! I'm not sure why my pics are showing up. They were at first, but I'm having issues with my Snapfish account. Thanks again!...See MoreIs Wallpaper Coming Back In Style?
Comments (46)I would kill to have something papered in one of those Quadrille or Cowan and Tout bamboo trellis style wallpapers. And I love the classic Manuel Canovas trellis pattern. Not so hot on the Kelly Wearstler Trellis pattern for some reason. Anyway, I also love grasscloth and would love to try it. I just hate to go to the trouble of having to hire someone to hang it because I always have such horrible luck hiring tradespeople. I would rather paint because I can do that myself and make sure it'd done right. Anyway, here are some beautiful, timeless wallpapers:...See MoreAntique (?) hutch with split back
Comments (28)The second piece has been messed with....those doors on the bottom? Look at the side view....there was something on the bottom of the top piece....and it has had new knobs and the hols not filled well....and for the general style it should have paned glass doors....and there is somesort of block? thing at the corners of the foot? The firs is better....On the second the whole front part is wrong....AND it's $500! Go get the first....if you find something you like better you will have no problems selling it for what you paid....and more....See MoreRemoving hutch from antique buffet. Questions!
Comments (3)Not trying to deter you from your plans, but, as is, that is a beautiful piece from turn of the century. Personally, I would buy it and keep as is. But, to your dilemma: often these pieces had a marble top, so you could do that and cover the holes....See MoreDebbi Washburn
