Sources for cabinets for pantry/mudroom?
Comments (4)My mudroom sounds similar (half bath located elsewhere) and will go with Ikea cabinets. In my mudroom with a bench and cubbies I'm going to put doors on the cubbies. I think it will help reduce the visual clutter. The cubbies or "lockers" will be above the bench. Under the bench each person will get a rolling basket for their shoes and above each cubbie will be a basket for each persons gloves, hats, mittens, etc....See MoreHow wide is door on your small corner pantry?
Comments (14)It isn't quite that simple. The walls have dimension and the outside measurement is longer that the inside measurement. The corners turn out to be almost solid wood and then you need another 2 x 4 next to it for the required header and to pass code. In your case, the corners are different sizes because of the slant. Both of the short walls should stick out a bit from the counter - let's say they are both 27" long. The more they "stick out", the closer the two corners get to each other. So lets say you have 3" of corner on one side and 4" of corner on the second side on the outside of the wall and zero inches for both on the inside of the wall. Instead of the largest door unit you can fit in a 30" opening (28"), you'll need the largest door you can fit in a 26-28" opening (2" less than the opening size). If you care that the trim matches your other door trims, you may need to increase the amount of wall on the outside of the angled wall to a minimum of your trim width plus about 1/2". That would decrease your available opening by another 3 inches to 23-25". The little finished opening on mine is 26". If you look close, you can see that carpenter dude blew off centering the opening in the wall. Can I sell you a 3 x 5 interior pantry with the long wall on the dining room side, move the oven beside the ref? Only takes a rectangle about 42" by 66"?...See MoreButler's Pantry, Skullery whatever you might call it….
Comments (23)Rocky, the counters are normal depth and the isle width from counter to counter is 41". I can definitely see something similar in your house! Kiwi, I saw some photos of you home on the building a house forum. It looks incredible!!! I cannot wait to see more pics. Regarding the faucet. I am having a hard time loving it as the sprayer does not have much pressure. My other faucet in the main kitchen's sprayer is great. I am wondering if it is a problem with the faucet itself?...See MoreA) Longer Kitchen/6' Island or B) Shorter Kitchen/5' Island + Closets?
Comments (11)If you will be bringing groceries in through the garage entry, I would seriously consider making both the laundry, and the closets in the hallway, shallower, then making up for the lost storage by adding the closets on the kitchen wall in the second plan. Carrying groceries, laundry baskets, or anything else, down that hallway will be more comfortable with a little more elbow room. If you need the depth for the laundry, it could be recessed slightly into the bedroom behind, then bookcases could fill out the remainder of the wall:ETA, for the sake of safety, I'd rather see the fridge and ovens switched, so that there is landing space for the ovens on the left counter, and the oven is in less of a traffic aisle. That means the island would be more of a barrier between the fridge and sink, so I agree with placing a prep sink on the island, but I'd put it on the corner, to allow as much prep space as possible....See MoreUser
