If I had shades like the ones from handwerk in that off white color would I get the stencil? and put a stencil on the curtains? I think stencil on both would be too much. Plain shade and stencil curtains or stencil shade and plain curtains? The other issue is color. If the shade is an off white color what would the curtains be? I don't think it's in this thread but one of my favorite places, Roycroft inn has black shades and then curtains with a leaf pattern. Looks really cool but I can't find a photo. The photo I took doesn't show the blackness of the shade. Off white shade with black curtains? Annette I just reread your post. So plain shade and then stencil the curtains? My concern would be they would both be off white (except for the stencil part). How would that go together? Trying to find a photo showing a shade and curtains together.

I am not quite sure how big the skylight window is but I would use a motorized skylight shade. Here is an example - Motorized skylight shade on blinds.com There are a ton of companies that make the motorized shade so you can pick any material. I would use a cellular shade that was blackout in the skylight. With motorization, you can open and close the treatment as you need. For the window wall, I would also look at motorized shades. The question would be an aesthetic question - Do you want the shades to be on individual windows or do you want one long treatment on each vertical window grouping. Individual motorized shades would probably be nice because you could operate each window separately. Most of the motorization controls are built my Somfy. For the type of window treatment, cellular shades offer some thermal insulation, double cell is better than single cell. I am not sure if you want black out shades for these windows. Motorized shades options from blinds.com for example. One other options is to put the window treatments on the outside of the windows if your exterior permits. Take a look at Bandalux for some ideas. Hey There: Window Coverings and the design of the house must go together and furthermore you must keep the function in mind. In you case I do recommend to layer the window coverings... As I can see in your pictures, you might have a privacy problem if your don't close your coverings, but of course your don't want to sit all day in the dark. So as a first line of defense (literally spoken of course) you go with minimalistic pleated or honeycomb shades. They fit nicely into the window casing and operate bottom up and top down. This will give you privacy and light management and allow you to look outside and enjoy nature around your home. As the second layer you can opt for curtains to the side - either operable or just decorative. This combination is not to heavy to take over the rooms.
