Kitchen rug for hardwood floor help?
Comments (3)You want a rug that does not have a rubber backing. There are non skid mats, which are sold separately, for under rugs that are safe for most hardwood floors (check the label), but most rubber backed rugs are not. I have an ordinary rug I picked up at Menards for not much in front of my sink:) If you want something for under a table or a runner, I recently bought an indoor outdoor rug and runner for my living room - it is actually pretty attractive, though not cushy. I needed something easy to clean because I have two dogs. This can be hosed off outside if needed. It also was not too expensive - 8 x 10' for about $100 and I think the 2 x 10' runner was about $75. I bought the rug at a local rug / flooring store, but bought the matching runner online from Overstock. You can do a search on Houzz for "indoor outdoor rug" under shopping to see some examples. There are cushier rugs, but they may need special cleaning. Some people have special matts (anti fatigue matts) in front of the sink that are supposed to help tired feet - something I should look into myself....See MoreHouzzers I need help with area rug in kitchen--Dog Stays too!
Comments (14)Would any of the other sizes of this rug work in there? I have a 5x7 in my kitchen, love it. If not, I’d go with what works best for your comfort. :) (I think I see the ocean beyond? Great view!)...See MorePlease help with kitchen to sunroom transition and rug placement
Comments (10)I’m jealous of the beautiful space you have. All those windows are great. My suggestion would be to make a dinette area on the wall where the tv is currently. To furnish it I would use an upholstered bench along the wall flanked by two small bookcases. Find a narrow table to use with a couple of side chairs opposite the bench. I would keep the sofa where is is but pull it out from windows by about a foot. Try sliding the chair to opposite end of the sofa so that it faces the windows. Get a beautiful tv cabinet (keep it low) and place it with the tv in the area that the cafe table is currently. The tv will block the window slightly but will will be unobtrusive in that corner. Shades will be a must if you plan to watch tv without glare during the day. Plus will help with cooling the room in summer and make it more comfortable to use that space. I would use small recessed lighting above the dining area. A couple that shine down on table and one the could shine on a pice of artwork above the bench. I’m also a believer in dimmer switches as I like to dim lights at night for mood lighting. I would also use floor lamps to flank the sofa. I would suggest tripod style lamps as they make a great transitional look. Add a rug and you’ll have a wonderful room....See MoreArea rug for kitchen
Comments (6)I agree with bringing more black in there. I have this one (but in gold), and trust me when I say the colors are much more muted and darker in person than on the website. I nearly didn’t order because of that, glad I did. I really like it and get a lot of compliments on it. The companies that sell it really need to get better pictures of it! It’s indoor/outdoor, but has a soft feel. Very easy to clean. https://www.rugs-direct.com/Details/LioraManne-Marina-TribalStripe/140280 Here’s one I think would also tie in well with your dining rug: Overstock Both of these, or something similar, would coordinate with the natural and organic features you have (woven shades, art)....See MoreRelated Professionals
