What color sofas for an active family room
I'm beyond ready to change the sofas in my family room. The current sofas were purchased before we built our house. Now I'm ready to change this look! The sofas have to be comfortable, durable and look great. The colors on the walls will not change, however we are considering changing the carpet to hard wood floors (Dark Walnut color)... I'm strongly considering light or cream color leather sofas, the tables will also stay... HELP

5 years agoI have a charcoal lazy boy sectional. This thing has held up great to my extremely careless and messy teenagers and our dog. I get it professionally cleaned once a year and I spot clean as needed. Haven’t met a stain I can’t get out and we’re on year 4.

In fact from a wholesale perspective there can be as little as a $50-$100 difference between them and I will tell you why. At the trade shows, primarily the twice a year High Point market, April and october or the Vegas market manufacturers like to quote low sofa prices as they show you their wares. I have been to many markets, over 60 High Point Markets, where you will be lead around the showroom with the rep quoting sofa wholesale or in some cases retail prices, $699, $799, $899, $999. It's so boring. What they never quote are the love seat and chair prices where the manufacturere is making their mark up. My advice buy two sofas. I am at neg station since I gave the delivery guy my old sofa (before knowing the furniture had to go back). I like the sofa you suggested, but the look may be a tad bit modern to coordinate with the rest of my furniture. I do have a pretty contemporary sofa in my front-room but you can't see it from this room... Any suggestions for a more traditional comfortable rustic look?
5 years agoYou could replace your brown fabric with a brown rustic leather. Something with a transitional style and track rather than puffy arms.

5 years agoHi, KWW. I think leather would be great for an active family room, but off white doesn't read as rustic so much.
For rustic, I imagine a rich cognac leather. Here's one of my favorites, that looks like it might fit the bill. It's from Hancock and Moore. I can see a couple of these with wood floors, an upholstered armchair and a beautiful Persian area rug.
Ditto on this traditionally styled sofa with the "London arm". Also from Hancock and Moore.
A couple more sofas in lighter colors that are pretty classically shaped, but not very rustic. I think they lend themselves well to almost any style, unless one is going for uber modern. Take a look at Hancock and Moore, if you're seriously considering leather. They're kind of the gold standard in the US for leather furniture. Their leather color selection and hides are swoon worthy!
And I really hope you decided to go with wood floors through out. It will be stunning.
