In case anybody's interested, here's what my final decision was. I actually found this very fabric at a store here in NYC, for $35/yd. I didn't get a "double rubs" rating, but it was comparable to all the others in weight (the one I had a remnant of is *very* thick). I also got the suggestion from the woman there that I use my remnant for the center sections of the chairs and find a coordinating one to use for the outer shell. I thought that was brilliant, and went looking. (but I wasn't actually sure I'd have enough remnants to do the interiors both chairs. I think I have enough for the wing chair.) But I decided that if i bought the 2nd fabric at $35/yard (estimate just under half the fabric, I'd still be spending more ($189) than if I bought the online fabric I really liked at $6/yard. I could even buy extra and have a second seat cushion made, and extra arm covers. And have some extra in case one section got really worn and I wanted to see about slip-covering the upper section only. (true, there could be some fading, but I figure I'll deal w/ that when I get to it. So that's what I did--I ordered 5 extra yards, and I'll have him make extra seat cushions and extra arm covers.

@lauraalarid2002, thanks for those links. I'll see if my upholstery can match that price for the Kovi fabric. I just went to Toto at your suggestion, and I think I may have found fabric to recover my dining chairs. Just sent away for the sample. @Ed(Edwina) and Stephen, the current fabric is fine until you get up close to it. There are a few small holes, and the covering(?) on the bottoms of both the chair and the ottoman are ripped and sagging.

Oh! I should have read this before posting about my sofa. I like Annie's idea but agree that it is beautiful as is. But I get that it doesn't coordinate. I'm sure there are lots of pics out there of neutrals for inspiration, but there was a similar chair in this link that sheeisback posted on my slipcover thread. It's from 2005, but (IMHO) it looks timeless. Is the original a Waverly floral linen? I think I have the same one in brown now hiding under my currently slipcovered chairs.

You'll have to strip the chairs down to the frame to see how much the pee soaked through. Everything but the frame will have to be tossed. I agree with Olychick above that you might be able to use a product to neutralize the smell of the wood, maybe a little sanding and paint. Nature's Miracle is a popular product for neutralizing pet urine. Our cat peed in a chair and I took it to a reupholster (with apologies). I have no idea how or what he did, but it looks beautiful and does not smell of pee. It's expensive to reupholster but worth it, better than tossing out good furniture. New stuff costs so much and often isn't as well made. Good luck. There is someone who does reupholstery over on Kitchen Table. You could ask over there if you have any questions.
