Glad I stopped by the forum, I didn't know there were questions for me. I have another bathroom remodel in my future, so I'm sure I'll be back for lots of advice. Here are more details as requested: Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Gray Wisp. If you can't get Ben Moore, I noticed last week that Behr has a color "silver sage" that is a very close match. And just about the same as the RH Silver Sage...can they do that? Grout Color: Laticrete Silver Shadow *Special order from Lowes. If you're painting a blue/green/gray color, I highly recommend this grout, it's gray with blue/green undertones. Subway Tile: Lowes. I think Interceramic brand. Beaded accent tile, also from Lowes. Shower Fixtures: American Standard Williamsburg tub filler and faucet handle. Kohler 30 polished chrome slide bar with Bancroft trim kit. Kohler Bancroft supply elbow Kohler Bancroft Hand Shower, polished chrome. Not Pictured, I also installed the Restoration Hardware Vintage glass shelf in the shower, on the wall opposite the showerhead. I absolutely love it! I know the niches are also popular (may do that in my next bathroom), but I'm glad I went with the glass shelf in this shower, and it was very easy to install. Moen makes a much cheaper version, but it has a plastic insert, and I want something that will be more permanent. http://www.wrightstuff.biz/cornershelf.html Here is one take on which type to install: "Never anchor a grab bar into drywall , it will not hold and you could be seriously injured. How to properly install a grab bar is to screw it into the wall studs or to blocking in your walls. If your walls don't have blocking, add it by nailing a piece of plywood into the studs. The plywood should be þ inches thick and 6 to 12 inches wide. A grab bar should have 1-ý" of clearance from the wall. Wall mounted grab bars come in several lengths. Deciding which length to install depends on how the grab bar will be used. For example, if you're putting a main grab bar on the side wall of a bathroom tub enclosure a grab bar at least 24 inches long is best. If you're adding a second grab bar for support on the shower head wall, it should be at least 12 inches long. Horizontal grab bars offer better leverage when you are trying to get out of a bathtub or up and down from a toilet, but a grab bar placed at a 45 degree angle to the toilet or bathtub's rim is better when trying to accommodate people of different heights. Angling your grab bar has an additional advantage. A 24 inch bar installed at a 45 degree angle will exactly span wall studs spaced 16 inches apart, and you can screw into the studs on each end for maximum support. Horizontal grab bars should be located 33 to 36 inches above the finished floor around toilets, and 33 to 36 inches above the floor of the bathtub (7 to 11 inches above the rim) and close enough to the shower head wall to support you when adjusting water temperature."

I just finished my first backsplash tiling install and it is an arabesque. Installation was a royal PITA, but NOTHING compared to the GROUTING !!! I did try to use the "Icing Piping" method to prefill the spaces, but it wouldn't flow well and I think being closed up may have contributed to it hardening up too quickly. Plus, having to use sanded grout (1/4" spacing) made it a mess as it started to lose plasticity and flow. We did 3 walls, 5', 7' & 9', with stepped heights (different height top cabinets) and lots of outlets and switches. I can totally understand if the tiler quoted a price without Arabesque being specified. People will spring this kind of thing on a subcontractor unexpectedly and be upset that they can't get a 4 day job done for the one day quote. I don't know if that is the case here, but I saw it when I worked in finish carpentry, and also in my current occupation as a toolmaker.

Ok, that makes it tougher, but one of the better electronic stud finders might still locate the studs through the tile. I prefer to mount something that needs a lot of support - like a grab bar - only in studs. If you can locate the studs, but can't find the right length grab bar to perfectly match the stud spacing, one solution is to buy one that is slightly longer than the stud spacing and mount it at an angle that allows the ends of the grab bar and the studs to align.
