It will end the rust problem on that surface. You can paint over it. It is not for a non-rusted surface. I have spray-on but they might now have brush on. It is black. There are other similar products. I did use one (can't remember name) that was silver. it was brush on and was super expensive. If the surface is too rough you might smooth it a bit but don't remove the rust. For non-rusted areas use somthing else. I had a 20' boat trailer totally rusted. 5 spray cans covered it in a few minutes for maybe $30. I washed the trailer first. Compare that to the cost and time of sand blasting plus driving to/from the blaster etc. Painted the trailer next day. 2008. Still no rust. Good stuff :-)...See Moresolutions for low quality replacement windows
Comments (10)I have been slowly replacing my old windows that are in such bad shape that I can't fix them due to lack of care by the PO. Thus far I've spent an average of $1000-$1500 per custom wood window. So, it's gonna take a while to replace all 34 of them! For the upstairs windows that I can't get to for a few years (repairing those, not replacing) I bought the interior storms from Magnetite and DIY'd them on those 8 windows as a temporary fix. It cost about $600 for 8 windows, but the temp in my upstairs has been comfortable for the first time in 6 years! It's not ideal, but it's a great fix until I can get to that project. They also keep out the sound, which is a nice bonus, and you can't really tell they are there. Btw- I have the triple track aluminum storms- they are ugly, don't work and I hate them. I can't wait to rip them off every time I buy a new window! Here is a link that might be useful: magnetite interior storms...See MoreRoof/Windows leak, best solution?
Comments (9)It's a very charming building, but completely impractical. Water will pond in every pane of each window, as well as whatever other depressions or low spot exist in the frame. Then the water will ooze and drip everywhere as it obeys the law of gravity and exhibits capillary action. Caulk alone may delay and lessen the issues but standing water will eventually find a way. Roofs are designed with straight shot slopes to shed water. You need to create effective drainage for every square inch of your pond system. Keep in mind this is a completely non-approved thing to do. By the time you have adequately mitigated the leakage, you will have wished you did something a little more Home Depot....See MoreAzek vs. wrapped pine for window trim
Comments (17)"The use of coil stock limits your options to flat trim unless it's pre-formed Huh?" We design, build and remodel homes in Williamsburg, VA. We're probably not the best reference for what passes in a lot of places because of the historical precedents and the prevailing local quality standard. It's not suburbia. We use a variety of casings with profiles you're not going to produce on a sheet metal brake. The use of aluminum-wrapped trim in our area is generally limited to rakes and fascias of homes and then again, only on homes outside the area's master--planned communities. Andersen 400 windows really ought to be paired with some decent trim. AZEK would be my choice....See MoreNicolette Manahan
