First I work in a deli and use a high speed commercial Blodgett convection ovens also use induction ranges. I cook at home every Sunday a large enough meal to feed 4 for the week, even though my daughter is as thin as a toothpick my son more then makes up for it (now 6.4" about 240) I've had the advantium for close to 20 years at home, my first was the 120v. It was a nice speed cook, a little weak microwave (only 900w) but general cooking times were much faster then conventional/ convection oven, especially casseroles, lasagna, scalloped potatoes etc... worked great! My oven was the Jenn-air, but I found to be too much to deal with cleaning to use any of the accessories Grilling frying etc, so it was really a waste of money in my new home I just have a convection oven with my Advantium. When I moved I added the Advantium 240v. even faster cooking, 1100w microwave & many more auto selections. I use my toaster oven for pizza, comes out a little better and my toaster oven is also convection so only takes a few minutes longer. The only time I use my lower oven is for holiday cooking turkey, or large roast, but even a roast alone I just use the Advantium in convection, I'll sear in large pot w/shortening, then convection in Advantium. The Advantium will sear but hot oil is faster method, and wont start cooking the meat, also searing gives off a lot a splatter. Same for steaks the splatter not worth it, a mess to clean, I just sear in pan on stove then auto cook in Advantium. I'm about to replace my Advantium (mines getting worn out). I don't think there is ANYTHING out there as flexible as the Advantium!

antss, I have reflected how I use the oven. In my experience, broiling is not to my satisfaction. If I put two things in the oven at the exactly the same time and exactly the same distance from the broiler and one cooks much slower than the other, than it is less of a broiler than the other, IMHO. Whether it was designed for it or not, they give directions for broiling meats in their instruction booklet. Basically, broiling meat in the speed oven will turn that into inedible grey goo, IMHO. sayede, If I am browning on the cooktop and finishing in the oven, ie fish or meat, I will use whichever seems easier or is not used at the time. They seem about the same. If the amount I am cooking is large, I will use the Viking. If I have to move quickly, I will use Viking since the oven is under the cooktop. Otherwise, I will use the Miele. It's a toss up to me. Roasting vegies and sliced potatoes, I tend to use the Miele. Sometimes, I cook it in the speed mode but often the time is not of essence since I am making 2 or 3 dishes at the same time to get the dinner together and I will just use the regular conv bake because I am more familiar with the way the food is cooking and there are many things that needs to happen at once and I feel that I do not have the brain power to deal with combi mode while dealing with the sauteeing meat or boiling pasta. If am baking potatoes or roasting beets to get ready for other things to follow, I will use the speed/combi mode because time is of essence. If I am cooking frozen meals (which i do not do often), I will use the combi mode. I don't make casseroles often, but I have used it and have found that it reduces the time by about 1/3 to 1/2 less. For example, 1 hour food is done in about 1/2 hour to 2/3 hour. I do find that the texture of the food does change with the combi mode and I am not particularly fond of it. I will not cook meat with it. This is probably where people will find the greatest amount of time savings, I guess, ie roasting a chicken. I have a BBQ with infrared broiler and I use that to roast my chicken. I just don't see the point of "spattering grease in" the oven that I have to clean up to save 20 minutes of cooking! YMMV. I will use the combi mode with frozen cooked food, ie casserole because it has already lost its "freshness" by being frozen...

Slush and Lyvia, welcome along for the ride. Trailgirl, thanks for letting me know the interior on the Miele has been changed. It�s nice to know they were responsive to complaints. Dekeoboe and Davidro1, I know Plllog self imported a Gagg induction cooktop from the UK, so there is something that can be done to make European appliances work here. I will have to page Plllog for details. Of course, I do not want to take any unnecessary risks. It is annoying that several great appliances are not available here. The new Gagg FreeInduction cooktop is also very tempting, but not available in the US - aargh. Sharonite, it sounds like you really love your Advantium. I liked my old 120V Advantium, so I can just imagine how much fun the 240V would be. It was the best microwave I ever owned and pretty simple to use. Scottno, did you get the Miele Chef or Master Chef speed oven? Remodelfla, is your Miele easy to clean? Are there shortcuts to use the MW functions quickly without going through lots of menu screens? (For instance, my Advantium had a button to MW in 30 second increments and then you could spin the dial to adjust the time up or down.) Davidro1, I hope my kitchen does turn out as well as you suggest. I agree with you that a separate MW seems like a waste when speedoven combos give so much more flexibility. We heat water for tea in a kettle on the range, but with a 2 year old, my tea often goes cold before I can finish, so a MW is very handy. Joan, good point. I will be sure to take a close look at the interiors of the various models. Sochi, which Miele do you have? Did you find it easy to learn to use the MV, oven and speedoven functions? Kaismom, thank you for that information. It is useful to know that the Miele does not roast and brown food faster than your gas range. I can high temp roast a pork loin or a chicken in my regular oven in less than an hour (plus preheat time). I was hoping for something faster on weeknights, since we do not get home until 7 pm. It sounds like the Advantium would be better for browning and the Miele for baking. I would like to think I will bake more in the future, but for now, I do very little baking. The speed oven will be used primarily to roast meat and potatoes and any veggies I decide not to steam. It sounds like both Miele and Advantium owners are happy with their choices. I would probably be more comfortable with the Advantium due to familiarity, but the 24" Miele would fit into my design so much easier. Can any other Miele owners please chime in on the browning issue when using the combined cooking modes? I have seen reviewers comment on being able to broil a great steak in the Advantium - can the Miele do that?

Well, unfortunately Electrolux has discontinued their speed oven. I've had one for over 8 years now, also their Electrolux Icon wall oven. Both have been trouble free for over 8 years now, and the Speed oven is our most used appliance. I suspect most people here will guide you to the Miele oven and speed oven, although that will be your most expensive option, (By far)!!!! Bosch ovens seemed to get good reviews, but their speed oven is pretty new to the scene, so not a lot of data about it yet, but should cost considerably less than the Miele. You are correct thou, any Speed Oven Option, should be 240 volts. Gary
