I move the potted ones inside, Jim (don't have as many of these as I once did). These are inground, and I will cut them back in the next few days and hopefully, find homes for the cuttings. I did not cut these when I had my annual brug cutting event on the 19th as I REALLY wanted to enjoy the blooms a little longer. I had so few this summer and they are doing great just in time to freeze...(isn't that how it often happens?") !!!!!

I wanted a mud room in the worst way but had no space for one. Since we always use the garage entry I came up with the idea to convert the closet by that entry into a mud room. We removed the bifold doors & built in the entry with molding. I found those baskets and hung one on each side. Then we hung crown molding & used the board that supported the self as railing for the cost hooks. There's a boot tray on hidden on a black rug under the bench. So when you look down the hall, this just looks like a room not a closet. We don't miss the closet at all and use this space all the time now. Molding detail:

Usually I let them go but this year they seem to be getting the upper hand and I have not seen many prickly pear flowers out of my crop and when I saw all those bugs , I grabbed my bottle like an instinctive mom. They probably do this in a lot of the flowers. I know that the cactus flower is a real important environment in the life cycle of the landscape. But is nothing sacred or safe.

I went to a retina specialist for 4-5 months before he'd release me to have cataract surgery in that eye. He said he couldn't see anything anyway in the back. lutein and zeaxanthin are good to take for eye health - especially as we get older. but we should keep aware of what is going on with them. I too was warned about it seeming like a 'curtain closed' over an eye. I'll be back into my retina doctor the first sign of anything. I wasn't sure they'd be able to save the sight in that eye - but they did. he is awesome!
