How do you handle yellow rooms?
Comments (35)My cotton voile PB sheers came. On the plus side, they soften light, are cozy, and screen the view of bulldozers and hardhats. On the minus side, they're pretty sweet and I'm not really sure. They weren't expensive as window treatments go but with three children to educate, I can't fling money around lightly. I have ruled out shutters as too much moral and financial strain (measuring! ordering! what if I don't like them!) I am eyeing bamboo shades at the moment. Would love curtains in a wonderful creamy ground with a not too insistent, large-scale floral on them, but finding and buying samples, etc is just too time consuming a process when I need my windows covered now. Plus, most of the tempting fabrics seem to be $50 yard and up. Have been pretty frustrated decorating this room-- bourgeois suffering, as I remind myself. My other rooms came together without all this fuss. I blame the yellow. But I am determined to triumph in the end. The key seems to be a lot of white and medium or dark wood mixed in. Next up... slipcovers......See MoreAdvice for decorating 2 story living room walls
Comments (7)Don't bring people's eyes up and upward unless there is something there you really want them to see and enjoy. If you don't have such a thing (yet) and if you would prefer their eyes not wander off in search of something interesting to look at -- like views of your private spaces upstairs -- then decorate for the people-level gaze with eye catching colors or shapes and friendly big plants. If the bare wall drives you crazy, consider getting a banner made in a design of your choosing or with the help of an artist, have it framed. Loads of places make customized commercial banners for conferences and events, and they aren't expensive given the alternatives....See MoreWall Decor Advice
Comments (15)Why did you put the TV above the FP you have walls either one which would have been better and also would have filled a wall with no need for anything else there .Add a mantel the the mantel could then have some decor you love. I do not think tree branches are an ideal choice. for wall art but IMO art is chosen because you love it not for any othe reason. I would start with a new rug if you want some color . The chairs need to be on the rug at least the front legs to make the chairs part of the space ....See MoreLooking for awkward wall decor advice
Comments (6)Yes! Our house is small and tight. Wall behind the other side of couch is windows which view a porch. Previous owner created a seasonal porch. Can’t really reposition furniture because the entryway, a room, and dining room all pass through this room. The wall length is 140 in wide. Right side from window to wall is 52in. Left side from window to wall is 44 inches...See MoreRelated Professionals
