BM Super White on walls-what white for trim?
Comments (5)Trust me, the Aura matte is amazing with regards to scrubbing, really! We had scuff marks on our wall behind a large hibiscus plant/tree where the branches had scraped against it (we bring it inside for the winter and turn it every few days so different sides are exposed to the sun streaming in through the windows). I scrubbed the wall, with lots of elbow grease in some stubborn spots with no loss of paint or change in the finish at all. I've scrubbed other marks on the walls as well (we used Aura matte in other colors in a couple of other rooms so far) with the same great results....See MoreAny Pics of BM White Sand, BM Muslin or BM Cream Fleece Walls?
Comments (6)You are so very welcome! :-) We tested a "gajillion" colors for the FR (this room is off the FR) until we finally settled on Mascarpone (one of my first choices, BTW, but DH wasn't too keen on it at first). Somehow I just knew that the Muslin would be the winner in the Guest Bedroom from the get-go. I did look at a two or three darker colors in there as well, just to be 100% sure, but really wasn't ready to go darker in there. Muslin is a terrific neutral color. We both absolutely love the Muslin. It looks a little creamier during the day, leans more toward khaki at night, but looks great either way. We are very happy with the Aura matte--have used it in every room we've painted over the past 5-6 years, incl ceilings (used matching colors to the wall colors in the satin finish on the baseboard molding in all rooms)....See MoreBM Simply White walls with Super White trim
Comments (88)@HU-969855738 I was terribly busy yesterday and didn't get the opportunity to respond to you. The three colors I picked out when I made my suggestions were very different undertones, but were meant as examples of the depth of color. There are two factors that go into finding the perfect color that are really difficult to do via the internet. One is that color preferences are extremely personal and two, colors have to be looked at as a collection of colors. It must be 25 or 30 years ago when I came home to Pennsylvania for Christmas. Back then, when my mom was still alive, the entire family gathered at her house for Christmas Eve. It was quite the celebration and we all took pains to find the perfect outfit. My sister Betty lived here in Pennsylvania, Susie drove in from New Jersey and I flew in from California. Apparently there was one outstanding velvet pant suit sold across the US that season. My two sisters and I had all bought it. I have ivory skin and dark sable brown hair and dark brown eyes. I bought the deep Christmas Red. Susie has olive skin and golden brown hair and brown eyes. She bought it in deep Emerald Green. Betty has dark blond hair, fair skin and hazel eyes. She bought it in deep Navy Blue. We obviously have very similar taste, but our coloring is not the same and our homes reflect these same differences. We all live in Pennsylvania now, but Betty's home is decorated in a contemporary style and her color palette is soft beige and pastels. Susie has a tudor home with an eclectic mix of Antique and Industrial furnishings with a fall color palette, deep oranges, golds, browns and greens. My home is an MCM home with MCM teak furnishings. I am renovating, but my color palette is being pulled from the colorful slate entry (called Red/Purple/Green slate). Walls have not yet been painted, but here is a picture that shows the entry tile (with drywall dust): I am using a lot of reds, teals and gray purples (my final decor will not include a paint sprayer on the hearth). To know what will work for you we need to understand what your style is and what colors make your heart sing. What are you using with the Super White trim?...See MoreDifference between ceiling white and BM decorator's white
Comments (1)Decorators white is going to look like a very, very, very light grey compared to a ceiling white or any kind of ultrawhite trim. Like VERY light grey. In my last home I had large areas of walls painted decorators white. In low light situations (especially at night) you could see the grey shade more easily. I mean, it didn’t look like grey paint per say. It still looked very white, but held right next to it, you can usually see the grey. I really liked it! (It looks terrible next to a soft white, creamy white, or yellowish white though... I had to re-paint a lot of trim when I chose decorators white, LOL!)...See MoreRelated Professionals
