We bought one at Ikea several months ago (one of the few things I've ever bought there). I LOVE it. Out of the way when I don't want it, right there when I do, doesn't take up precious counter space. My one wish is that it adjusted up and down better (I have facial hair issues due to PCOS and need to be able to see my chin/neck as well as my face.) I figure I'll upgrade to a fancier one when we remodel the master suite. Big tip: Make sure you try out both sides of the mirror before buying (without glasses/contacts if you normally wear them, too). That's actually what led to me getting the Ikea one (that and the really cheap price tag). I could actually see reasonably well on both sides.

The receptacle outlet shall be located on a wall or partition that is adjacent to the basin or basin countertop, located on the countertop, or installed on the side or face of the basin cabinet not more than 300 mm (12 in.) below the countertop. Thanks, ingrid. I definitely want some kind of cabinet, but prefer recessed. There will be no other storage in this bathroom other than what is under the vanity. I don't care so much about looking "dated" -- the house was built in 1950, so of course it's all dated. I chose frameless because I didn't want to have any more colors, textures, or types of wood in this small bathroom than are already there -- there are two colors of tile on the wall, three on the floor, the new vanity will be a dark cherry, the wood trim in the room is a medium brown, all the plumbing fixtures are white, and the metal is all chrome. What prompted me to post here is I'm starting to wonder if having the mirror a few inches wider than the vanity on each side will look odd or unbalanced. The rule of thumb seems to be that the mirror or cabinet should be no wider than the sink/counter beneath it. The light fixture is going to be above the mirror, and it's three-globe, chrome and glass, about 24" wide (see link). Here is a link that might be useful: Light fixture

For this type of installation, I think you're better off having a custom mirror made by a local glass contractor. You'll have to have the sconce j-boxes installed prior to the glass guy doing an onsite measure, then they can make cut-outs for the j-boxes. If you like, you can have your contractor's finish carpenter make a frame for you to install after the glass goes in. And no, it's not a dated look. I'm doing this for two new bathrooms in the same home as we speak.
