I can't say for certain but it looks as though it is Colonial Revival. We had a sofa that was a bit like that which dated from the 1950's. There were foam cushions which sat on wood slat supports - wasn't the most comfortable piece of furniture :-).

Because furniture like this was made during during many decades, it's difficult to date without looking at construction - Colonial Revival was also popular prior to WW II.

FWIW, grandmothers sometimes bought new furniture so just because a piece was owned by a grandmother doesn't mean that she bought it when she was 20. Conversely, a grandmother could have bought something used which was made before she was born :-).

The house I grew up in was furnished with Colonial Revival furniture, purchased new or used in the 50s and 60s, and this reminds me a lot of the things we had. For all that people think the middle of the last century was all about mid-century modern, Colonial Revival was definitely a strong trend as well.

Colonial Revival definitely. User cawaps is quite right to mention that the last century was about so much more than MCM furniture, in particular here in the US. Mid-century furniture was brought from Europe, but this style evolved organically in America and has many elements of the Neoclassical style, which is traditional for us.
