The Brady house needs a facelift!
Comments (5)Oooh, fun! It's quite a nice house - what I'd do if it were mine is simple things, I wouldn't actually reno it at all. NOTE: If you like these things, keep them as they are! It's your house, and all the things I'm mentioning are quite functional, just not to MY taste. And I'm on the cheap side, if the tile floor works, I'd leave it :-) I would get rid of all the curtains, including the shower curtains. Remove at least some (if not all) of the bland and boring foundation plantings, and replace them with something more interesting. It doesn't have to be more maintenance; your local garden centre can help. I'd remove the wallpaper. Replace some of the light fixtures, which seem dated. Paint the kitchen cupboards and the knotty pine, and replace the kitchen sink/countertop. I can't tell the layout of the house that well - are you planning a significant reno that will alter walls etc? LOVE the back yard and pool area! And the doors in the home are gorgeous!...See MoreThe Not-So Brady Bunch
Comments (11)Walking away is not the answer. Why is it so easy to stay in a relationship when it is all rainbows and lollipops, and when it gets rough and you find yourself in the trenches everyone bails? Stress- It is true Officers and First Responders are under a lot of stress however, it is part of the job to be able to leave it when your shift is over. I am married to a LT Fire/Rescue. His Mother- the only thing you need to be responsible for is caring and loving your Fiancee. Be respectful but do not be so hard on yourself for her lack of being involved in a nice way, you cant control ones way of being. Children- You are correct children do come first. My advice is for him to call his EAP set up some " free" counseling for your family( sometimes 6 visits ) a good start..There you can talk freely about your children's feelings and his feeling's towards not having his around. Acknowledge his frustration with the ex and lack of seeing his child, tell him this is a season in his life, he will get through it with you by his side. I know it is hard to so called " clean up someone else's mess" but faith matters. I wish you luck...See MoreNeed help with exterior color/design Brady bunch house!
Comments (34)Please don't be afraid to try something if you like it. The more you delve into your projects, the more experienced and creative you will get. And lukki for you, you have found the forum(s) early on. At the start a fixer upper can be really overwhelming, especially to someone without experience; I found it was easier to focus on one project at a time (like fixing the leaks in the roof) and was surprised at how quickly it started to come together. It wasn't as stressful that way too. You said initially you have the inside sort of figured out, I would love to know what you have planned and see pictures. I prefer older homes because they are usually more generous with storage and space, I bet the inside of yours has open and generous rooms with lots of potential. From the outside, it looks like a real gem in the rough. Which of the pictures are you drawn to? We bought a vacant foreclosure home in 2006. When I showed it to my DH and said I was in love, he thought I was nuts. But in my mind I could see most of it in it's finished state and it felt like home. We've come a long way, the interior is about 80% done, and right now we are focused on the exterior....See MoreBrady Bunch House for sale
Comments (12)This is right around the corner from my old house in Studio City. There are busloads of tourists that drive by here daily, and you can always find people with cameras lurking in front of this home. The price is pretty high for the condition it is in. But it's a desirable area where prices are soaring and there is a good chance it will be torn down. I truly hope the current owners insist on selling to someone who will merely restore it. The interiors obviously need some work - the kitchen was obviously updated in the 80s. But it would be a real shame if it was demolished....See Morel pinkmountain
