Grafting Sweet Citrus onto Sour Citrus

Stephen P

Hey, guys! I hope everyone's doing well. :) I have a question for those of you who graft citrus.

Is it okay to graft sweet varieties of citrus onto a sour citrus portion? That's what I did last year and was mostly successful. But I was browsing YouTube and came across a YouTuber who mentioned that it's not a good idea to graft a sweet orange onto a sour citrus because the sweetness and fruit quality will be affected and the resulting fruit won't taste very good. I've never heard this before! Do any of you have experience with this?

I actually grafted some orange budwood (ordered from UCR's CCPP) onto my Meyer lemon tree. Do you know if this was a bad idea and would result in poor quality fruit? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!
