The purple brug mystery
Comments (27)Several years back I acquired seeds through swap for this plant. I was told it was a double flowered purple brugsmania. As I recall, I started the seeds indoors under lights in February (zone 5). Seeds germinated easily in 4-5 days. I had 3 nice seedlings and I planted them out in May. They quickly reached a height of 4'+, had several wonderful blooms and by the end of the season had a trunk base of 3" to 4" in diameter. As I was cleaning out some of my computer files I ran across the photo I had taken. I thought "I want to grow those again". So I started searching this forum, but could find very few sources and I happened to find this post about there are no purple brugs. I guess I always thought Datura was more a creeping viney plant, whiles brugs were a stocky woody plant. Well, anyway, perhaps I should have started my own post, but even if this is Datura, can anyone suggest a source where I can get seeds for a variety like this? Thanks....See MoreMystery hot purple pepper...
Comments (10)Posted- White Flowers... I have lots of purple flowered and podded peppers but only a few that are purple podded like that have white flowers. I've got white flowered stuff that turns purple from the sun but not many like these that purple seems to be a color change rather than an enviornmental thing. Purira are similar to your pods but hardly any on my plants ended up being pendant....See Moreblue!? and purple!? flowers!
Comments (17)Sarah, lol! Great find. Please do post photos when yours bloom. We'll all be sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves and trying to fill the plumeria-shaped void in our lives while your season is in full bloom down under! Simi, so you did have a Celadine after all? Oh, dear, that really was a mixed up seller, but at least they had good taste, as you say! If you have very sharp eyes and experience with lots of plumeria trees, you can start to tell them apart by growth habit and leaves, or at least tell when one doesn't look quite right for the label. You can definitely tell when some are related to each other--I swear Dazzler and California Sally must be sisters they're so hard to tell apart--and these mix-ups are easier to avoid. But I think that takes years. You'll get there, George, with as much experience as you've gained this past season....See Moreupstate South Carolina Mystery Flower
Comments (6)from my friend who took the picture: That's not it, it has white flowers & is a shrub that they trained into a small tree. The seed pods are the only thing that's pink. I don't know if I'll get to go there again. I do wish I had taken pics of the leaves. Thank you for looking...See Moregreenclaws UK, Zone 8a
