Friend, in Ft Worth, yesterday!

nicole, those little squirrels are little chubbos! Mama must be taking very good care of them and what a clever place to build a nest considering that they are completely protected from weather and predators except for those of the two legged variety. I hope your tenants plan to leave the nest alone until the babies are ready to leave.

Dawn: The tenants were wonderful caring people, who fed the squirrels! They contacted an animal facility to care for them, raise them, as they moved to Arizona, middle of March.

On the other hand, they blame the squirrels for tearing up the weed cloth, under the bark mulch and not their two huge aggressive dogs, fighting through the fence with the neighbors dogs. Part of their damage deposit went towards putting the yard and fence back together on one side. But I pointed out all the other parts of the yard are fine. It's only the side with the dogs they were attacking that was damaged. The little squirrels just picked up bits of weed cloth already torn up....see the nesting material? They never cleaned the dryer lint either. The dryer belonged to them. Squirrels loved ALL the free nesting material. :0)

Awww, I'm glad that worked out for the squirrels.

I noticed the nesting material and thought some of it might be squirrel fur. I've read that squirrels will pull fur from their chests and stomachs to line the nest.

When we had dogs (all of whom shed incredible amounts of hair), every time I brushed/groomed them during spring/nesting season, I'd toss all the resulting hair outside and the birds just had a field day. They'd even fight over clumps of dog hair sometimes!

I know squirrels can be destructive, but I just love watching them. Sounds like this time the squirrels were the innocent party and actually helped with yard cleanup!

P.S. We were out clearing brush yesterday and I noticed an old bird's nest in a pile of branches hubby cut. I think it might be a hummingbird nest. Anyway, I cut it out of the branches and plan to display it in my studio. The construction is amazing.

I knew I took a picture, of my fairy garden, but it took me hours, to figure out where it was stored.
