peavee unfortunately I can't tell you who made my pennyrounds. The tile store I bought them from wouldn't give me a "name" brand when I bought them. She was a smaller tile shop with higher end artistic tile. They were made in Japan was all she would say, but not as pricey as some of her pieces. I believe they are glazed, but not a shiney glaze. ...I have seen them very similar at other tile places, they come in some great colors, deep reds, browns, etc.

It sounds to me like you aren't going to be happy with any ancillary wall interruptions that don't match the trim color. Therefore, the 2 choices are you go with eveything white, or you find a color that in which you can get your switch plates, outlet plates, t-stat trim, vent grills, etc. and then match your trim color to that. Naturally, what will happen down the line is you'll install something new that's not available in that color. To be forever matchable, white is the only way to go.

For all of our trim and doors, I chose to use a soft creamy white that has a slight yellowish tint to it. I love the way it looks. The one we used is Behr's Pot of Cream and IMHO it's perfection. While refurbishing the foreclosure home we bought a couple of years ago, we've added crown molding and replaced every door and piece of trim in the house. Everything is now painted with this same white and I'm tickled with it. It's not something anyone else notices, but I love how it's nice and crisp but easy on the eyes. There are hundreds of whites and when you put them directly next to each other, yes, you can see their differences, but once you pick one and put it on the trim and doors, it will just look white and really only you will probably notice. Our floors are walnut and oak and I've used cool colors and warm, regardless this Pot of Cream white looks great with all of it. I've even painted furniture with it and plan on eventually painting our kitchen cabinets with it too. In regards to the switches and covers I have just used standard white of each. None of them sit next to the trim and they all blend, but there are light switches you can paint to match. The vent covers I'd leave alone. If it were me, I'd never opt for builder anything. Take the designers advise and pick a soft creamy white.

I've been going back and forth on this same topic for the white ceramic subway tile I'll be installing as a backsplash in my kitchen. I'm using a 2"x4" mosaic. The problem is they don't make matching bullnose pieces. I can get them in bigger sizes and try and cut them down with a wet saw, but they're thicker than the mosaic (1/4" vs. 5/16"). I'll have some areas where the edge of the tile is open (i.e. doesn't terminate into a wall or cabinet). For those edges, I really just want a matching 2"x4" bullnose piece with the bullnose on the short edge. In the upper corner, I want a 2"x4" bullnose piece with a bullnose on both the short and long edges. For the top row where it's open, I want 2"x4" bullnose pieces with the bullnose on the long edge. I looked at the Schluter, but I really didn't like it. I'm going for a more rustic look, and I think it has more of a modern look. The solution I finally found was a place down in Cincinnati where you send them pieces of your field tile and they make them into bullnose pieces to your specification with a kiln fired finish. That way everything matches my field tile. It's costing me about $4 per bullnose tile, but it's giving me exactly the look I want. I think they have a minimum order amount of $50.
