ORB pulls/knobs on darker stained cabinets
Comments (9)I have a two tone kitchen - cream perimeter and cherry/saddle stain on the island and peninsula. I picked a bronzy color for the cream cabs and a satin nickel for the darker cabs. I just didnt' like how dark the bronzy hardware looked on my island....See MoreDarker wood loors, lighter cabinets okay?
Comments (8)I don't have pics yet (we have to go pick up the boards tomorrow) but we are doing a darker hardwood floor (a mahogany-ish color) with a light wood cabinet (ash with a cherry stain). We've tested it out and I just love how the darker floor makes everything else pop while grounding the space. It also gives the area a sense of warmth. Go you on the hardwoods! I think that's an excellent decision....See MoreNeed help with wood stain choices in master bath...
Comments (2)I can do a dry wall return and plan to have the tile wrap to the window. The window is in its own little cove, so there is also a 6" deep ledge which I'm going to do with the quartzite (like the counters). Forgot to mention that I'm planning to do wood plantation shutters as well rather than blinds or curtains, and am thinking that white shutters on white trim is my only real option here...partly because the door to the bath is indeed framed in oak, and the window is straight ahead of the door so you would definitely see both stains at once if I trimmed the window with the dark cherry stain. The other thing is that the white will keep it bright, as the outside light is limited since faces north and large shade trees just outside....See MoreMy new wood floors are too light! Can I stain them darker?
Comments (5)We need photos. We also need to know if the floors received an oil based finish (they might darken if this happened) or if they received water based (will not darken). Relax about the 'yellow'. Hickory WILL fade in direct sunlight. That means the strong yellow you see right now (in an EMPTY HOUSE) will be very different once they calm down. I'm assuming the wood has WATER based finish on it which means it WILL NOT darken and the yellow will tone down as it ages. If this is oil based (the STINKY STUFF) then you are in for a strong yellow floor that ambers (turns a darker orange) as it ages. Please post a photo so we can see what you have....See Moremlb418
