Mixed metals - yay or nay?
Comments (5)What Nini said. But, if the dining room is actually a dining area that is that close to the kitchen lights and they are nickel I would probably try to find a light fixture for the table in nickel. They do not need to be in the same "family"....See MoreWhat finish for hardware and faucet?
Comments (5)As I recall, nickel is not maintenance free unless they add a special coating to it. If you are fine with that - the nickel would be really pretty.I think it would go nicely with the lights and both of your cabinet colors (although a picture of the cabs would be nice to confirm my vision)...See MoreSatin nickel faucet with polished nickel hardware?
Comments (4)bumping this up. Anyone out there who's actually done what I'm proposing? My California migrated lighting designer-who's helped me immensely on many kitchen design issues, is a bit more of a purist on finishes. My notes of our early discussion show he suggested hardware in satin or stainless steel for their sheen but not brushed nickel which is more matte. Antique nickel, brass, antique (aged) bronze etc was also high, polished nickel not so much. Also, I recently saw a "what's new in 2013 kitchens" and it said popular hardware are satin, orb, some brass, but not seeing as much polished. If you know of a "bright" satin cabinet hardware maker, please do share. A lot might depend on the base metal in the collection. :/ Thanks again....See MoreDoorknob delimma
Comments (0)I have black interior doors/light gray walls. I love the new champagne bronze delta faucets but can't seem to find that same finish in doorknobs except for the most expensive brands. What color should I use on my black doors? Antique bronze, polished chrome, polished nickel or satin nickel. I am afraid the polished chrome will be too glaring, the antique bronze too dark and I tired of satin nickel. Is there a brand of polished nickel that will work with polished chrome fixtures and won't break the bank? I'm just torn....See Morevpierce
