Bathroom mirror vanity light swap or switch out mirror/light entirely?

We are about to start the bathroom remodel in our small apartment and trying to keep costs down. Our new bathroom style will be modern with white/grey calcatta marble and chrome fixtures.

Our current mirror is fine, but the lighting on it is outdated (circa 1990s). My husband wants to keep the mirror because a) it's large and b) it keeps costs down. Curious, do you have suggestions for swapping out the vanity lights for some modern sconces? Would that be even more costly? Or should we swap out the mirror entirely for a $60 giant mirror from Ikea and just buy a new light to go on top of the mirror perhaps?

Have attached pics of our current mirror + lights on it - and the ideal look of our bathroom remodel that we're aiming for. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
