Dining Room light

Hi we moved into a town house a I was really excited to add a farmhouse style chandelier for our dark dining room. Unfortunately our electrician said it’s going to be way too difficult to run the electrical wires due to location, skylight etc Just wondering if anyone has ideas on how to get around this???

You could try a swag style chandelier, I recently made one for a client with a similar issue (pictured chandelier plug-in with 18' of cord).

If you have your own chandelier this conversion can be done by an electrician fairly easily.

Depends on the room the chandy is in. In a more contemporary home, I'd probably use the white sleeves. Nothing to really keep clean. Dust the chandy once in a while. If you want to actually wash the sleeves, you just remove the bulb and slip the sleeve off and wash them. I have a small chandy like that in my kitchen, which was there when I bought the house. It has the white sleeves. I should change them to the honey, not that I think about it! The dining room chandy I have from Ace Iron doesn't have any sleeves (it's a ring-style chandy, so no pillars/sleeves for the bulbs). OP's house is a 1900s farmhouse, so I'd def. go with the honey or antique if that were my house.

Let’s talk shape first. Entry light...assuming you mean for a foyer? Is it 1 or 2 story? Confined space or sprawling? So try to narrow down the size and shape first and then the style should fall into place.

With your ceiling height your light can not be more than 28” in total height from ceiling….that should include at least 10” of chain…so light should be only 18” in height…I would look at semi flush chandeliers it will also help with the off center position of the light.

Oh, wow. Not sure how you would swag a fixture from there. I think Retro has added lamp cord to a fixture they screwed into the ceiling, then they are going to plug the fixture into a close by outlet. You'll need to know what you are going to do with the cord. Hide it or whatever. Pictures of the room or area help as we are all picturing something different in our heads. :) Personally, I wouldn't buck it too much and I'd find a really good torchiere lamp to help light the room with reflected lighting from the ceiling.
