Backsplash Help for Creamy white cabinets, soapstone...
Comments (19)Bestyears, My cabinets were painted in the factory and called antique white, but I can tell you that it is a near perfect match to BM's Marble White OC34. Thanks for the photo, this is all so helpful. I am in the process of calling marble yards and getting pictures sent to me, and saw some in person. I really love the largest tile in my photos as I feel that the deep charcoal vein and warm tan veins, with the clear white background is most complementary to my kitchen. Finding that is proving to me most difficult. Makes me think that subway or marble mosaic is a much easier choice. But then again I have waited this long to find the right thing... I am so grateful for all the ideas and help you all have given me. I was on the building forum a ton about 5 years ago when we built our house and I could not have done it without all the wonderful support, ideas and knowledge! Comments (7)In my experience, the paint looks significantly lighter on the cabinet than on a sample. The slight gloss to the paint makes it appear lighter, too. We used Lancaster White on our island, which, on a sample/paint chip, looks fairly yellowish and pretty dark compared to a lot of whites, but on the island certainly doesn't look dark and, to me, not very yellow. In other words, not only does it lighten, but washes out from the perception given by the little swatches. This is the best photo I have at the moment. I only show it so if, in your search of BM colors, you see a sample of the Lancaster White, you can see the difference in swatch to reality and may be able to relate it to other colors that interest you....See MoreCreamy white cabinet help..
Comments (9)I was actually very surprised at just how creamy my cabs were after being installed. I picked the color called "white chocolate" by Medallion. In the store, and even at home with the small sample, it looked pretty "white" to me, although definitely a creamy white. However, when they were all set up in the room and placed against the white appliances and white sink, you probably wouldn't even call the cabinets white anymore. I happen to love the color, by the way. Your color crystal reminds me a lot of my "white chocolate" cabinets. I definitely don't think of my cabinets as yellow either, so I don't think the crystal color would be problematic for your husband, but the chesapeake might be....See MoreHelp! Comments (33)Can any color experts out there tell me if SW Moth Wing would be a good choice for the island? Would it give an ample contrast to the SW Dover White. First, I loveDover White. I think it's a pretty white. Some whites are "okay" and some are "pretty" and I think Dover White is pretty, so you could have done a lot worse, IMO. Dover White belongs to the yellow hue family. So, the data validates exactly what you're seeing. If I painted the walls SW Accessible Beige with a PPG Delicate White Trim, would that clash? I'm hoping the paint color I choose will help neutralize the yellow I see. They would not clash. Those three colors go together well - they relate nicely. And it is possible that Accessible will lessen how yellow Dover White looks. Moth Wing doesn't really fit in. It's too close in terms of hue family and chroma to Accessible Beige and I don't care for the relationship on paper or lookin' at the chips. I know Moth Wing and Accessible Beige are on the same strip but that doesn't really mean anything. Color harmony is not built-in guaranteed just because colors are on the same strip. Very often the similar color attributes that land colors on the same strip are the very reasons they don't go together - Accessible Beige and Moth Wing are a good example. If you're not happy with Balanced Beige and don't want to just leave it and see how it works out, then I'd get off that strip of colors and go another color direction....See Moreabpatel80
