need help, how to keep white tile floors clean
Comments (9)I'm assuming we are talking about ceramic tile? If I had your problem, I would consider area rugs or runners for the heavily traveled pathways OR using a steam cleaner in place of the cleaning products. The steamer isn't going to keep the floors cleaner, but it is easier to use, IMO. Actually it might help keep the floor cleaner if the cleaning products you are now using are staying on the tile and are causing dirt to adhere to the tiles. The steamer uses only water, so there's nothing left behind. Get a good steamer, a canister model, not a steam mop. And be prepared to use it repeatedly at first to remove the cleaning product residue. It can take some work before you get the gunk out of the tiny crevices of the tile. I did this recently on a not-smooth tile floor belonging to a friend of mine. I kept going over one small area, changing out the steam cleaner's cloth (I use microfiber). I did an area that was 3 feet by 3 feet and I went through 3 cloths (microfiber) until no more dirt came off....See MoreWhite kitchens: how hard to keep clean?
Comments (16)As a boomer who's had white kitchens for most of my adult life, I don't have much basis for comparison. However, the difference in my attitude about keeping a white kitchen clean has changed dramatically since I got introduced to my new BFF: Her name's Magic Eraser! What an amazing little helper. IMHO, that little sponge has managed to elevate spot cleaning white cabs, moldings, backsplashes, etc. from a boring, functional task to a work of art. Okay. Maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but now that I've got my ME, I'll never go back! lol...See MoreHard to keep Shaker cabinets clean?
Comments (14)I hate keeping my shaker cabinets clean. guess I'm a messy cook or something, but dust, crumbs drips from the sink or opening a drawer with a wet hand or whatever. The corners don't collect any more that the straight area at the bottom, but when you wipe/dust, it pushes anything that is there to the corners and I need a toothpick, q-tip, toothbrush to get them clean. And that extra attention to cleaning the corners seems to wear the finish a bit, making them even harder to clean. I wonder if factory built cabinets have a thicker finish that's more slippery or fills in the edges a bit, but mine are custom built birch and not easy to clean....See MoreIs matte finish on hardwood a lot harder to clean?
Comments (15)I had Dreamfoam slippers with black soles. My DDIL said they left black marks on her floors! So I bought ones with grey soles and no more marks, quick fix. My brothers shoes leave black marks on my laminate wood floors. I just use a Mr. Clean eraser and it takes care of it. He’s only here once or twice a year, so no big deal....See MoreBri Bosh
