Shower Soap Dish Clean Break - Can I Repair? How?

while cleaning, the handshower fell and smacked the soap dish "just right" causing it to break. (cleanly)
What would be the best way to either 1) re-attach the piece or 2) remove just the soap holder without damaging the tile?

Comments (5)Just a note that i read here in the past. The soap dishes like you've got were referred to as dangerous because people grab the bar that is meant to be for wash clothes. Comments (3)I would rough up the backer with a grinder (or just put some notches in it), then use thinset one more time. You'll have more surface area that way, and it will be "cleaner" so the thinset adheres. I'd probably replace the soapdish, too, since they're cheap and will give you a clean surface w/ more space for the thinset. After it cures, seal the perimeter with adhesive caulk. Comments (26)Don’t forget also you can decant your products into different containers. I like to use plastic in the bathroom (because of risk of breaking) but it’s not hard to find plain or decoratively shaped plastic bottles with a variety of top styles (pump, flip top, disc, etc.) online in a few colors (I’ve seen clear, amber, green, and cobalt blue off the top of my head) and they visually simplify things quite a lot, which lets more of the niche be noticeable since your eye is no longer distracted by all the packaging graphics which are designed to catch your eye on the shelf in the store. This also lets you adjust the size of the bottle so you can decide how much of your tile you cover up versus annoyance of refills. (I don’t have all matching bottles at the moment because I’m lazy, but I do have a cobalt pump top for my shampoo and another one for my conditioner - the brand my hair likes best is expensive and I get a much better price buying the salon/Costco size bottles which are far too big to leave out in the shower, there just isn’t room. The smaller bottles are I think 8oz and hold plenty so I don’t feel like I’m refilling all the time, and that’s with two other people in the house who occasionally steal my stuff.)...See Moredishwashing liquid/dish soap
Comments (14)Another vote for Seventh Generation Unscented. However it is thinner. I prefer it thinner. Why do you want it thicker? Dishwashing liquid does NOT clean any better if it is thicker. It just has more chemicals in it to make thicker because people have been brainwashed that thicker soap cleans better, so the manufacturers add stuff to make it gloppier. Furthermore, the thicker dishwashing liquids clog the soap dispensers. People come on this forum saying they hate soap dispensers cause they clog. But if they just used a thinner dishwashing liquid, their soap dispensers wouldn’t have that problem. Once you get used to thinner dishwashing liquid, the thick ones look icky....See More
