Comments (3)Wow. How about heating the plastic with a blow dryer or a heat gun until it's soft and scraping it with a plastic scraper? In a pinch, a credit card might do the trick but a scraper with an edge would do a better job. Get what you can up and use a soft abrasive cleaner (bar keepers friend) for the residual....See Morehow to clean burner rings??
Comments (7)I've never cleaned mine either. Its best to leave the burner ring and parts leading to it alone. Can't even imagine how yours is getting dirty with a pan over it. And I hope your last sentence was a typo. "I would HAVE to get oven cleaner down there!" Hope it was meant to say HATE to get oven cleaner down there. If the top is electronic ignition, so is the oven. Its best not to mess around cleaning under the floor of the oven too. All those parts are calibrated and "cleaning" could clog or mess them up, as you found out by scrubbing with a toothbrush. Sandy...See Morecleaning glass range tops
Comments (2)Hi Alzhi, I saw an entry about just this subject on Pinerest today. The writer filled a pan/dish with warm soapy water and wrung out a cloth in it until it was sorta spongy (not too wet). She laid the cloth on top of the glass and let it sit there for a while to soften the spills. Then she took baking SODA and sprinkled it on quite heavily. She used circular motions to wipe up the baking soda and was very pleased to see that the glass was completely clean. This might be a good alternative because there is no strong chemicals to worry about....See MoreCleaning open burners like cleaning elec coils?
Comments (7)Rhome410: After living with all different kinds of cooktops and researching for our new kitchen, I truly don't think there is a perfect rangetop from a cleaning standpoint. I've had electric coils (including the dreadful Jennair cartridge top - THAT was a nightmare to take apart!), electric smoothtop (easy to clean but HATED cooking on it and scratch-prone), KA gas on black glass (showed every speck or spear and the enamel grates chipped), and now a Wolf AG range. The only thing I haven't tried is the Bluestar setup or sealed stainless burners. I'm about to experience the sealed stainless burners as we're buying one of the new GE Cafe' line DF ranges for our beach place. I agree with Eandhl that the Wolf open burner does have a very tight-fitting drip pan so it is very similar to closed. Its black porcelain enamel does show every splatter (and will scratch) but is fairly easy to bring back to almost-new. I run the grates through the DW and they come out looking like new. My fear with the stainless sealed burners is that they will easily scratch and there will be burnt-on stuff around burner caps that is impossible to remove entirely. The Bluestar would probably show less mess on a daily basis but would seem to be very unwieldy and heavy to take apart to clean (as a compulsive person like me would feel compelled to do on a regular basis). Pick your poison - rangetops are inherently messy; IMO nothing but a glass smoothtop will be "easy" to keep but it won't be very fun to cook on....See Morejaycie14
