Plumbing issue: Sink drain is too low

I'm currently in the middle of a bathroom remodel. The vanity I purchased has a shelf on the bottom making the cabinet area smaller. My sink drain was placed too low in the wall for this vanity so I'm faced with either cutting through the vanity or moving the drain up. I dry fitted the PVC today and I'm wondering if anyone would be able to provide insight into potential issues with the way I have done this. You don't know what you don't know. An S trap would have solved my problem but I read that's the wrong thing to do!
