Comments (1)I'd replace it with a Whirlpool or a KA. My 26 year old Whirlpool fridge is still going strong in the garage and my 5 year KA is doing fine in the kitchen....See MoreRecommendations for 30' gas range (not GE Profile)?
Comments (1)I just recently purchased a Frigidaire Professional 30" gas range. I had considered the GE Profile, but much preferred this one (and am glad I did!). I actually just bought it Friday and won't be getting it for a few months (moving in 2 months and will flip the kitchen right away - needed definite appliance measurements now, hence ordering them so early), so I can't say much about the current model's performance. However, I currently have a Frigidaire Pro that is only 3.5 years old and LOVE it. Unfortunately, it is staying w/ the house. I was looking around at other brands, but decided on Frigidaire since I like the one I have so much, and a few dealers said that they have only improved in the last few years. I can only imagine I will love my new range, too (now mind you, the only other gas comparison I have is the built-in cook-top that came w/ our house - it was circa 1970 and you needed a BBQ lighter to get 'er going. Anything was an upgrade for me!). I cook and/or bake daily and have yet to have a complaint w/ my range. Good luck on your search!...See MoreReturned GE Profile range, chose another, need OTR mico! Comments (3)Hi, You are right about installing a vent to the outside. The problem is that the wall where the range goes, is in the middle. In other words, the other side of the wall is the living room. Also, the wall doesn't connect to the outside. Plus, if we go up, its a cathedral ceiling, so it goes way up, and to top it off, over the cabinet that we have to modify, there's a ledge, (that looks like a decorative ledge) but its actually housing the air conditioners registers or ducts. From the top of that ledge, it still goes up about 4 or 5 ft. to the ceiling. The plumber that came to disconnect the GE gas range, told me that if I wanted to vent it outside, we would have to go through the wall of the back of the range and take it up on the side of the living room (which would be a construction job). That side (the living room) also has a cathedral ceiling. I'm sure it can be done, only thing is I think it would be a construction job, unfortuantely....See MoreKitchenaid 36 or GE profile 36 induction cooktop?
Comments (2)Thanks for the quick reply dlspellman! I have two questions for you about the GE since we won't be able to actually see one, let alone try it out. Does the GE Profile "hum" loudly on high or at all on low? We had a chance to try out the KA at the dealer and were impressed that it made so little noise (we tried out the Miele and it was loud). Also, with the KA we noticed a "ring" of bubbles (like a donut) - which we believe are the magnetic coils - when the water is heating up. Does this happen with the Profile? We are concerned with even heating on the whole surface of the pan at low temperatures. Thanks again!...See MoreTeeDee G.
