Paint Design Dilemma Exterior

Help needed on new trim color to go with new front door

We are just finishing up renovating the inside of our house to a more tranditional design. Tile that looks like wood, grey/light beige walls, painted white cabinet. Trying to lighten up the whole house. We also just bought a knotty alder door stained red mahogany with a speakeasy. Now we are looking to the exterior and want to get the house to tie in with the new front door. We have siding to paint all along our front door as well as the side floor f the house by the roof and the detached garage. We don’t know what color to paint the exterior siding, window trim and gutters. We were thinking white for the siding and black for the shutters. Currently the trim is beig/tan and shutters are white and it looks blah. Help please.

I love that door! That deep red brick is very powerful, saturated color, and it needs Trim and accents that can stand up to it without battling.

British racing green, a deep blackish green or greenish black, or charcoal, ith a little bit of thin white lines (more experienced people will have advice as to exactly how to place this), would be beautiful.

I would use something just a tad lighter for that floor.

Given the fact that people are going to be walking on it and leaving scuffs and shoe prints, I'm afraid the darker colors would always look messy.

I'm going to be getting a new front door and am undecided on color. My current door and shutters have been burgundy for almost 20 years. I'm ready for a change but don't know what color to choose. I have brick on the front of my house that has a pink tone to it and my siding is Wolverine Clay color. I'll be switching from a double door to a single door with two side lites. No matter what you do it's never going to match your floors because they're different woods - you won't get that dark graining on the door and the natural color of the woods is different to begin with. I'd be afraid that trying to match will always look like a swing and a miss. If it were MY door, I'd make them different enough that it's clear matching was never the hope. In your first picture I thought the door might even be painted yellow and that looks lovely with your blue gray siding.

Denita, we're putting up new trim around the door so that will be painted regardless. Taking on painting all the trim on the house is a bit daunting, since we're still finishing this kitchen renovation and I'm 6.5 months pregnant! I'm just loathe to put on more paint that we don't like the color of, but it sounds like that may be our best option for now.
