Help With Hanging Entry Mirror and Entry Table Arrangement
Comments (10)I think you need to decide if the mirror is for primping, or just for a design statement. If you look at many foyer pix, including a couple here, the mirror is practically covered up by a larger floral arrangement directly in front of it. It is not about checking your lipstick. The reason I mention it is because I think the mirror needs to hang on the lower 2/3 of the wall space between the light and the tabletop - and likely that will make it a bit low for some people to use for grooming purposes. I think the box is nice, and can certainly sit in front of the mirror a bit. I think the floral piece is way too casual and rustic for the other pieces in the group, and also disappears as the color of the vase is almost identical (at least in the pix) to the color of the table. I would rather see you find an interesting pair of antique brass or black iron urns to place on either side of the mirror, and fill with taller greenery and branches to add volume on either side of the mirror. The paired urns would also add a more formal feel there. Consider adding a decorative mirror hanger and cording to give the mirror more vertical presence....See MoreExtending/Enlarging Entry in Split Entry Home
Comments (15)OK, so like this, then? The design challenge is that big empty space above the door, so I faked a window up there. (Although, due to the lack of symmetry and different heights of the bottoms of the windows from left section to right section, perhaps an oval window above the door would break up the three sections better. The three sections being the section to the left of the door, the door section, and the section to the right of the door - we ignore the garage section in this comment.) The palladium I drew would end up fighting with the asymmetry left side to right side. An oval would not be mimicking either side, if you know what i mean.) And don't ever feel the need to apologize for split levels, they have some really awesome use of space due to this (BIG windows and lots of daylight in the lower level). You have a beautiful home, beautifully kept. On getting notices of replies: you have to go to PREFERENCES and "allow for other users to email you." Comments (4)Well, you have to ask yourself, "How much do you love that concrete?" As suggested, the low cost option would be to stain it. A higher cost choice, but more "lovely" in the long run, would be to get rid of the concrete and extend your existing, or complimentary pavers. A driveway just looks better when it extends all the way to a garage door. Just sayin.'...See MoreEntryway Ideas (when you have no entryway)
Comments (56)Well, I managed to build an entryway table this weekend...so there's no going back now - no more couch on the wall! Oh and those unsightly sidelight curtains found their final resting place in the trash too. Whoever came up with these window films is genius! Thinking maybe chalk painting the table, sanding a few edges to expose the wood and some storage baskets below for blankets and such....See MoreRelated Professionals
