Rodent or insect boring holes in the ground?
Comments (5)The holes are there because the grubs pupated into June bugs and crawled out of the ground. The grubs are no longer there. Nematodes are the best organic solution for grubs. However, before spending the money, make sure you have grubs. If you don't have dead patches of lawn, you probably don't have grubs. In about a month would be the best time to apply nematodes. They need damp soil to survive, just like earthworms. Grubs in the lawn and grubs in compost are two totally different creatures. The first causes harm and the second does not. Compost grubs are much larger than lawn grubs. Deanna...See MoreOver run by Rodents
Comments (13)Thanks for all your responces and ideas! I think I may have missed one or two responces this morning with a busy baby running around. I'm not sure as to the legality of live transport, but it seems like such a PITA I didn't really want to have to go that route. I just haven't had many ideas about this, but someone at a local garden center had mentioned it last year. The bucket trap and the rat trap sound like good options, especially if it does end up being a few of them. I am very worried about them tunneling in and under our home. I have already seen the holes on the edges of the patio and they also live in our retaining walls. One was staring me right in the face from about a foot away in the retaining wall the day be for yesterday....See MoreRight Size blower over small size induction cooktop
Comments (16)In my building every 4 individual apartment ducts are combined into a common duct. Oversized external blowers take the "mass" from these big common ducts. I just need to get air over to that common duct; but i have to go through a 6" duct. The 6" duct cannot be increased in size. Mine runs about 4 feet until it dumps its air in the bigger duct. Three years ago we put in our bathroom a remote inline ILF fan in an ILFK kit. Nutone Broan. Love it. It's such a nice little air noise pulling a lot of air. Like taking a deep breath very slowly. Love the little button shaped hole in the ceiling that we can close when we want to. http://www.nutone.com/product-detail.asp?ProductID=10476 I called them and asked for a Variable Speed Control for it. Then I asked about the HLB3 in the kitchen and a Variable Speed Control for it too. Got that too: VS64 rated for up to 5 Amps; more is better; I could also get a 3 Amp one. The outstanding question is whether silent/quiet operation is still going to be in the cards given that the output vent diameter would be reduced from 8" to 6" over a few feet length. I'm not sure how to determine the increase in noise and the reduction in strength that will come from installing an 8" inline blower on a 6" duct. Later I'll get part numbers for filters and cover grills to suit SO's preference, if we go with this blower. David...See MoreHole in my garden
Comments (6)I'm in Clearwater, FL. I thought it may be a vole, based on the reading I did, but the dirt around the hole isn't ever loosely thrown around. There's kind of a smooth packing around the perimeter. My boyfriend thinks it may be a sprinkler head underneath the garden, but there's no set pattern of days/time this happens. It's typically overnight but there have been 2 times it happened during the day while I was at work. I also doubt the sprinkler would eat my spinach and kale leaves, lol! I will take some pictures when I get home tonight....See MoreTT zone 7a Novie
