cigarettes smell

Hello, I faced the problem - can't rid of the smell of cigarettes from my carpet, I tried all the new and the most helpfull cleaning products, but I can't reach the result. Now I think about some special services. And I want to ask if somebody knows some effective services. I have already read several articles about how to get the smoke smell out of the cars and houses (even found some super special sites like VapingDaily and articles about quitting smoking ) but all the ways are not helpful for my situation. So if you know a really good way, lifehack or service, please help me. Thank you!

We recently bought a house. And we moved into it. And it turned out to have a lot of useful things from the previous owners but they all stink of cigarette smoke. Have you been able to solve the problem? What do you advise?

Hello. I had the same problems with the smell of smoke clinging to my heavy curtains and carpet.

Two things that helped me was first, put a glass of white vinegar in the room; this absorbs all residual smoke that my linger in house. Second, I cleaned the carpet with a steam mop (Vileda). Everyday for 1 week, then you can space the session. Maybe once every 3 days.

Plus of course other basics, like washing your curtains once a month, airing the rooms everyday for AT LEAST 30 minutes. And yes, Aroma diffuser with essential oils like Eucalyptus, Tea-Tree and mint helped a lot. But, know that this last hack won't work much if you do not allow an effective airflow.

You could also try Nature's Miracle, it's sold in pet stores mainly for urine odors. I use to be a heavy smoker, and to get the horrid stench out of my furniture someone recommended I use the nature's miracle in a spray bottle mixed with water, I sprayed the furniture til it was pretty wet but not drenched, open the windows and let it air dry, I did have to do it twice to get the smell out BUT it worked, the stuff is amazing. Fabreeze certainly wouldn't hurt. but I would recommend having the car professionally detailed. I'd suspect the carpet, as opposed to the leather seats, is holding the odor more, but smoke gets on all surfaces so the whole interior needs to be thoroghly cleaned.

I lived in a house that had been damaged by a fire when I was in my teens and later lived in a mobile home that had been damaged by a fire. I am pretty sure it is cigarette smoke. I have friends who smoke and a daughter who unfortunately smokes so I think I got the smells right. I will try the baking soda and see if it does it. I also had the thought of hanging them outside, but they smelled so strong when I took them out of the washer (and it was raining off and on all day yesterday) I hated to dry them that way. They have been washed a couple of times and it seems to be worst at the seams and in the really thick clothes, like heavy jeans. I put them back in for a soak cycle (I have a front loader). I hate to say it, but I almost wish the smell had been wood smoke. I don't mind it as much. Maybe part of the problem is that I am sensitive to cigarette smoke (allergies) and therefore notice it more. I will give it a try. I have at least three more loads to do. I will try making the loads smaller. Maybe with less clothes the washer can clean them better. I haven't overloaded, but it can't hurt. Most of my clothes come out clean and smelling great. Oh, well. Can't win 'em all. At least not in the first battle. LOL.

I am a smoker & I smoke in my car but I don't like to smell it when I get in. (I also live alone.) I shampoo my car mats & upholstery every month & keep the ashtray clean & filled w/baking soda at all times. I have tried the vinegar method which worked. Also, you should treat the vents since when you turn them on, the smell of smoke will be right back. I bought a small bottle of New Car Smell at my local Stop & Shop & that works great! I use it everyday when I leave my car for the night. I spray it on the seats, interior roof, etc. I have also used the Gain fabric softener sheets to minimal success. Basically, aside from smoking, my car is always very clean. I understand that's a big "aside," & I know it would be much easier to quit smoking but that ain't happening soon! However, when people get in my car, they are surprised that I smoke in it since they tell me it doesn't smell like smoke.

I know people who have put pans of vinegar on the registers if they are in the floor so it slowly evaporates. I don't care about the smell of vinegar but it does work to neutralize the odors. One other and faster option is called Ozium. Wal-mart and some auto parts stores carry it. The original scent is the only one that works well with bad odors so don't bother with any other scents. I will warn you it is overpowering but dies down to a clean tolerable scent. Turn the heat/air off and FAN on and spray in the air return and give the filter a good spritzing. The rest I would spray the carpet lightly and spray the walls around the windows especially if the previous owners had drapes which are magnets for smoke and hold it close so it permeates the walls. I would do a combination ozium and vinegar attack. Eventually you will win the war. I used to work at a dealership years ago that used a small bottle of ozium on smokers trade ins and sprayed under the seat, the headliner under the visors and in the vents and after the can was all gone shut the car and leave it for 24 hours. Insurance companies and car dealerships use ozone machines. You can pay for a company to come out and put the machines in or you can buy an ozone machine from Amazon.

The odor is not only in the carpet but the pad also. Remove carpet & pad.

There is a spray on odor remover ( neutralizer??) that works well. It is called Atmosclear. It is on the pricey side so wonder if the cost would be too high. I have used it and had good results with it. Wonder if they make a version to use in a carpet cleaner?

I thow out anything with cigarette smell. Including wall to wall carpet. I'm just too sensitive and nothing ever fully gets the smell out.
